I always said I'll keep my 03 MCS forever, but I better change it for this MINI, plus it have the advantages of the 05-06 over the 02-04. I'm authorize to change it and tomorrow morning I'm going to the dealer.

BTW, how many of these are going to be build?

Happy motoring folks

Official figures released this morning reveal a power output of 160 kw (218 metric HP / 214.5 international HP) and weight reduction of approximately 40 kg (88 lbs)
I was expecting a little more.
Oh well, we will see.

Now that is a terrible shame. 88 pound drop? I can get 50pounds off alone by new wheels.

5 HP???? From Randy's site, you an get 8HP from an 2% lw crank pulley.

This is a big disappointment.

Really low hanging fruit they went after:

- Rear Seat Delete including removal of the rear belts and tensioners
- stock exhaust replaced with the JCW exhaust
- s-lites

I'm not impressed with the 88 lbs in light of the above.

I'm a bit confuse . Is it going to have JCW goodies or not? If not I better focuse myself to the original plan (add JCW to my current MINI and buy at end of year a different car, liking the solstice turbo now , and wait about 2 years and see how's the next MINI)

Editing my last post; After some thinking I'm keeping my S and the CSL could be the extra MINI at home.

Ill say it.....what most are thinking............This is pathetic! If -88lbs and 4hp over JCW is all you get for 5-7k that is pathetic! Anyone who gets one should be deemed as a fool with to much money to spend!

just go order a base MCS + JCW with no other options, dump the heavy s-lites write $26k check and laugh at the CSL suckers

They should delete the radio and A/C units but keep the car pre-wired so they can be fitted at the dealer.

Of course, you are welcome to your opinion. and if you go to MINI USA
website and price out a similar JC Works regular Cooper S the price exceeds
$34,000. It just depends on how you look at it and what you want.
Even though we don't know the whole story yet, it looks like at $32,000 it
might be a good deal. Not only do you get all the stuff on the $34,000 car
(minus rear seats) but you also get a limited edition numbered car with special stuff for less money.

This is a good argument but you are basing it all on the JCW items being worth what they are being charged for. There are pages of debate on that topic alone. Some may say this would be like building a house on a foundation of sand.

Well strike the S-lites off the list. The official weight of the MCS is based on a stock car with the 16" wheels. With S-lites I believe you're adding like 20lbs total.

So MINI has dropped 88 pounds from a car that has six airbags and lots of creature comforts. It'll look different from every other MCS on the road, come in a special color, have special wheels, and will be the fastest factory MINI ever. And yet people complain because it's not 2300lbs.

In a way I don't blame them. But I think a car like this is a product of the age we live in. I don't think that we'll ever see huge weight reduction in a car sold to the public (especially in the US). I think some of the expectations people had were frankly unrealistic. Sure MINI2 helped fan the flames a bit (and maybe me too ) but let's take a step back and really look at what this car offers. It's really not a bad deal for someone wanting a JCW MINI and some exclusivity (assuming the price comes in around the low 30K mark).

Well anyway... can't wait to see it...
