Paul says, "It'll certainly look different from "normal" from every angle."
and "Think "wind swept" and "hungry for air" and "glued to the ground" and you might get some ideas. Reckon it would look good in silver."

MINI2 isn't saying anything. The talk is it could be a speedster. 2 seater, no glass. $45K ... forget about the US if no glass.

Who knows ... mystery

Speaking as a MA, I for one, know nothing official about this so called special edition. Yet. However, if you want to place a deposit, you can do so , just get in line behind me!

Eleven Days ........... now if we can just get it across the pond and oh yes,
afford it.

Gabe: "It's been said before but it's probably worth saying again, expect this car to be very different from all other special editions released by MINI thus far. This will be the real deal and it should be something very special indeed."

No Zak, I'm telling you that you should put your MINI up for the winter because you will not be getting any traction anyway.
What you need is a Getrag four wheel drive option.
300HP+MINI+Michigan winter=Maximusmini moves to a warmer climate
Too much going on to go to the dragon now but let me know if you guys
are stopping for lunch here in the burg and I'll meet ya.

You left off the pic of the 2-seat interior:

These images make it look like an MCS with a body kit and no rear seats (plus whatever they're doing to the engine and suspension, of course). If that's all there is (i.e. no CF bodywork or plastic windows), importing it seems feasible. Motoringfile does point out that this could be a new JCW kit or a JCW racing kit, not necessarily the rumored lightweight.

He didn't leave it off. That sketch wasn't in the original story. I found it in the BMW/MINI press area this morning and posted it on MotoringFile.

These three most recent sketches have me mulling over picking up a special edition.... #1 on a wait list.

Dealers usually know less than the general public about new stuff.
The manufacturer keeps them in the dark until the last minute.
We know more here on the forums thanks to people like Gabe @ Motoringfile
and Paul @ MINI2.
These guys have the sources and share with us what they can, when they can.
They both know alot more about this lightweight than they can say right now. :impatient
It is my hope that we will all know in three days. Blowing Smoke, a dealer? Please!

If this comes thru it wil be a break from the norm as BMW seems hell bent on making the line more profitable and not necessarily better performing. I.E the 07 will lose the multi link rear end .

There's never been any solid rumor about the '07 losing the multi-link and in close-up prototypes photos of the next gen it would apppear that it's still there.

Found it .
Motor Trend
March 2005
Page 20
Full page with photo of black 2007 Mini.

I will quote

" Great handling and roadholding remain a proirity, but the current multilink rear axel will be simplified for COSTSAVING and extra rear-seat room. Increased wheel travel is designed to allow better ride quality "

It was quite a indepth article touching on each area of the car , each new powerplant and other models to be offered. they also mentioned that the CVT would not be offered as well.

I know that article... it's essentially a carbon copy of a Autocar article from last year. Actually the rumor was first published in the spring of 2003 but has yet to be substantiated from anyone in the know. Meanwhile we've since seen several spyphotos of the next gen MINI with what appears to be essentially an identical rear set-up to the current R53. For what it's worth I've also been assured by a couple people within MINI that the next generation car will focus, like the current car, primarily on handling and will even be a better all-around performer.

Spring of 2003 would be quite a bit early for the confirmation of the Peugeot turbo deal wouldn't you agree? They also refer to the CAFE regulations for 2008. As for further cost cutting they mention that the headlamps will be fixed to the fenders to " cut cost " . In any event we wont have long to wait to see what really comes out in the wash.

Regardless, will not affect the "CSL" since it is a late 2006 W/Tritec and multi link.

While not "Auto Express" Motor Trend still gets its info from similar
sources.(not Tony) Remember that information is more than nine months old.
Things change.

Three days fingers crossed

Actually early 2003 was when BMW announced that they would be partnering with PSA to develop a new series of engines. MINI even had test mules on the road back in 2003 with the new engine: http://www.motoringfile.com/2003/09/...eCaughtTesting

For more info on the next gen MINI check out this article: http://www.motoringfile.com/2005/09/...ept_-_in_depth

If your keeping up with the MINI2 thread, they are talking delivery NEXT September, which kind of makes sense as it might be the last of the generation.
