ROFL, I can just see that. Lets poll the NAM members and then design our cars ... I'm sure BMW will go for that.

Scary thing is they would proably sell awhole lot more cars...

IMO, they proably read these threads to some degree. It is a wealth of free information for any marketing team to readily access.

true enough, especially since these Special Editions are usually aimed at brand faithful existing owners.

I've had the weekend to ponder this beast and after a few pints it started looking better. Where have we heard that before. Anyway, it still looks better this AM. (coffee only) The product is unfinished and (the good news) MINI still has time to get it right. Let's hope they do! I wonder what seats we will get?

I heard less than 450 will come to america on White Roof Radio last night. Seems odd that they are talking about this car on WRR because this car has a Silver Roof.

Heck I am lucky I get to listen to WRR with my Monotone Astro Black!

From the latest update on MotoringFile, each U.S. dealer will get a total of 5 MINI GP's in July 2006, also no recaros for the U.S. market.

Paul has an extended write-up on MINI2:
"This car is simply a mock up of what will be (or roughly what will be) the new car. The car was blacked out and shut up, the interior is nothing like complete, in fact, from the impression we received, the project isn't either. The REAL MINI Cooper S with JCW GP Tuning kit will be shown first to the press and public at next years Geneva auto show. Only THEN can we truly shape an opinion of the exterior and interior treatment, and only some time after then will we be able to get a driving perspective on what all this means."

After reading just about every blurb and viewing every picture my overall opinion is MINI has a fine vehicle, but it needs fine tuning. Heading in the right direction but not close enough to the destination. Some of the details are disappointing (to me). If they DO make minor changes and adjustments here and there between now and the Geneva show in March, I think it will be good to go .

I've given this some thought, taken into the market conditions ... My analysis

MINI2 is dumping on it, everyone is dumping on it except for a few (some ppl think Aztecs were good looking!).

They will NOT sell these out and as the LAST of the first generation, its not going out with a BANG but with a whimper. Sad. Right at the same time they come out with the new generation.

07s may not have the Turbo, certainly not a JCW version and the aftermarket vendors will be scrambling to see what they can do to make the car faster, maybe for the 08s. The brave will be eager to be 07s forgetting about the 06s.

These cars will seat on dealer lots as the 07s are ordered and be there the Summer of 2007 just when the 2008 Turbos and Maybe JCWs (and at the same time the aftermarket vendors are making them faster) will be coming out. At that point, they will rot in the dealers lots and THAT is the time to pick one up (if you can stand the color).

Unfortunately, I would imagine a JCW Turbo running 230 HP and that will just make selling these even worse. I dont know how BMW screwed this up so bad.

MINI has until the Geneva Motorshow in March to get it right.

It is not the CAR but buying his space

I went to the web page and it clearly says....

2006 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works GP
You are bidding on the chance to get on the waiting list for one of these fantastic cars, not for the car itself. The £1k deposit is paid and will have to be refunded to myself by winning bidder in the form of additional charges in the final invoice

and later he states...
The winning bidder will take my place on the waiting list to get this car (subject to MINI producing the car). The deposit is already paid to Mini UK of £1000.00, this must be paid for separately, on top of the final bid price, by the winning bidder to myself. The car will be delivered to Scotland once built, so will have to be collected from there.

But look at the bidders. Except for one person with 8, they are mostly 0 and -1!

Shills. Look at the jump from 1 to 3K pounds!

Yeah, isn't it funny, now at $5,333.24 US with a little less than a day left.
chows, just think about all the money I'll make.
Diff, that's what I said, "This is just for a place in line."
Check out the questions at the bottom of the Ebay page, the seller tells him he gets a rear seat too!
