Radar Detector...

Can anyone recommend a good Radar Detector/Jammer for my new Mini when it comes? I have a feeling I'll get myself into some serious trouble otherwise

MINI are rather spritited, and sometimes you may not notice that you are going over the recommended speed guidelines, so a radar detector is a smart investment for some of us....
A lot of MINI owners own Valentine 1 radar detectors (available directly from Valentine) or Beltronic radar detectors. You will have do do a little research on line, since I am not sure they include jamming functionality.

Radar Jammers are illegal in all 50 states, Radar detectors are legal in most. They are 2 completely different things. Checkout http://www.radardetector.net/ for any radar/lidar questions you may have, they explain things quite well. ( I opted for the V1 )

.... and a common winner is Valentine One. Though the Bells and Escorts have their fans, too.

The only detector worth the money you pay for it is the Valentine One, in my opinion. All of the others pale in comparison. Yes, it's the most expensive one too, but for good reason. Skimping on quality in a radar detector is false savings when the cheaper detector fails to do its job effectively... The V1 pays for itself very quicky, despite its higher price!

I use the Escort Solo S-2 for two reasons, it was highly recommended by
Autoweek in it's survey on radar detectors and #2 it is cordless. I dislike
seeing a power cord draped over the dashboard, but that is just my feel-
ing. I would suggest getting a quality detector, it will save you many
times over.

I'm a big fan of the V1, too.

It's saved my bacon several times.

Yep... but I used to live in MD, and I still live very close to the MD border. I use my V1 any time I cross the border.

+1, it has saved our butts many times over, and we love the fact that it is cordless, the hubby uses it for his sportbike also

I had a cordless passport. The problem is, it would shut off after 2 hours if it didn't detect activity. On long trips, that was a problem.

It only took me 20 minutes to hardwire my V1. Really. And now I have it blacked out above the mirror and have a remote display on the steering column and remote audio in the parcel shelf in front of my knee. It's su-weet. And no cords anywhere to be seen.
