Voltage drop AFTER start up

Hello all, I have a hardwired radar detector (escort passport 9500ix). I am supplying power with a power tap installed at the 12v cigarette lighter location in the fuse panel.
When starting our Paceman the voltage drops below a "low voltage thresh hold" and the detector announces the occurance and powers down. This voltage dip (down to 9.3v) occurs after the engine starts, not during the crank process. I have placed the tap in other locations of the fuse box that are "on with ignition" and the same voltage drop happens. This does not happen in our Clubman.
Am I the only one who has this problem?

How many miles on it and how old? Sounds like it could be either a bad alternator or bad battery. Does it take any more time than usual to start? No other warning lights when the radar isn't connected/tapped in to the electrical system?

put your meter right on the battery posts. How long does the dip last?
