I think I need a louder exhaust

while sitting in line at a drive thru last night, a girl walked up to me and asked me, "is that a battery (electric) car?"

no matter how loud you exhaust is, your always going to hear things like that :( they'll just catch you as you get into your car, or just after you shut down the engine

My favorite was a question while I was pumping gas into the car - "is that an all electric car?" - I had to laugh...

I don't own a Mini yet but I already know what my answer will be... I'm going to tell them that there's a great big key at the house that I wind it up with.

people will ask you where your wind up key is, before you even mention it.

Some folks will want a more pronounced exhaust note, but I believe MINIs are designed to meet certain European noise pollution standards. I think that's probably a good idea, so I'm very content w/ quiet. Nothing against those who want to bump it up a notch, though....just sayin' it's a win either way.

i was only kidding about making it louder. i have a milltek now and love it, nice and deep, but not too loud. i just thought it was hilarious the way the lady used the word "battery" instead of "electric".

Hmmph... Since I'll be ordering a MCS, I guess I'll just have to offer to meet them at an autocross track to see if they can keep up with the little wind-up car.

I refer to my car as a key fob. Just about right compared with the size of the key.

I had the same thing happen to me. I said "Why yes it is my dear, I'm saving the planet from SUV's". I think it must be the power steering motor whirring away that makes them think that.
