The goddess of the hunt
After a while of mulling over English and British names such as Aster, Audrey, Brigid, Brigit, etc, the name Artemis popped into my head. Artemis is the Greek goddess of the hunt, and my car is always hunting 'dragons' to slay. It just seems to fit.
I always name my cars after the song I'm listening to the most at the time of purchase. For instance, I was loving the song "Nemo" by Nightwish when I bought my Cobra last year...so I named it Nemo (no, has nothing to do with the fish...Nemo is Latin for Nobody or Noone). Currently I've been listening to the Broadway soundtrack for the musical Wicked...and I leave on a trip this coming week to see Wicked in both Chicago and NYC (seen it twice already on tour). The main character is the "wicked witch" from the Wizard of Oz.....who's name is Elphaba...Elphie for short. She's green...my car is green....viola!
I have always named my vehicles, whether they were cars or bikes. Never have names popped into my head so quickly as when I was 'building' MINIs on their website.
I had built an 'S' first, and the name 'Emerson' just appeared in flashing lights on my cerebral cortex. So I thought "Emerson' was it.
Then I 'built' a Cooper, and 'Emerson' was not only wrong, but the name 'Obie' now did the same flashy-thing for the Cooper that 'Emerson' did for the 'S.'
I bought the Cooper as configured online, and his name is Obie.

Heart of Gold
Perhaps this thread will push me over the top. . . I've never named my vehicles although, interestingly, I wanted to name my sons after vehicles (Norton, Harley and Moto Guzzi). My ex-wife wouldn't allow it.
I've been considering "Heart of Gold" due to my tendency to take the vehicle on infinitely improbable drives. But a real committment to that name may require me to replace the silver stripes with gold ones. Somehow "Heart of Silver" doesn't cut it. Sounds like a job for photoshop.

Named "Josh".....after a patient of mine that passed away in 2003 from leukemia. He never made his make a wish (to drive a race car), but he knew I tracked my car. So we worked it out so he could spend a day at the track with me and go around the track in the car. He was 14. He passed away 3 weeks after our "track day", and that was the last day he was ever out of a hospital bed. The car was only 6 weeks old at the time, and he loved the smell of the leather interior. I still have his picture on my driver's visor....told his mom as long as I owned the car, his picture will be there.

"STELLAAAHHHHH"
Well, I went to pick my MCS up last night, I was there for 2 1/2 hours, then the dealership closed before I could talk to financing.... So I get it after work today....
However, I still consider yesterday it's birthday: 7/25... same as Walter Payton's!
So he will be known as "Payton"

I have the Antenna ball in my briefcase ready to go!
