I just posted some of these pics in another thread but I have to support my space blue. Its sad that we are onlly at 8 pages while BRG or LY are at like 50 .. Keep it up! I'm at 498 miles right now.

EDIT: Yes, I made it to page 9 and 2nd gear!

Space Blue MINI club? Count me in Its the sharpest and classiest color next to BRG. The dark shades with specs of metallic in the paint strikes many looks driving around Germany. Oh yea thats me. The Checkmate with Silver Roof and chrome exterior. Pics to come shortly. A few in the gallerie for now. No major changes as many have told me its already great looking as is.

I believe me and Brethan are the only Space Blue' (US Spec) MINI's in Germany

So with the discontinuation of space blue for '07, we pass further into the realm of "rare" (need i say tasteful). Anybody know how many there are total? I guess there are a few more rolling off the rack as we speak, but it would be interesting to know how many we are when the final drop of Space Blue is applied.

Almost got it! First Post

I'm getting my checkmate in a week. It's comming in tomarrow but I'm takeing off to Hollywood to find an apartment. I'm going to relocate to out there with my mini from Indiana. Hopefully after a couple years of hardcore training I will be making games or doing 3D special effects. I checked and there was 3 mini dealers out there within 20 miles of where I am going to live in LA. Talk about nuts there is only one dealer in Indiana.

ezra360-When I ordered mine there where only 2 sb/s checkmates with automatic.

Those pict's of the checkered moon roof are dope. I think I might do something like that with the perferated see thru sticker in the future.

You guys think I should wax my ride right after I get it or wait awhile?

If you have a wax routine you are familiar with, do it. If not, check out the detailing forum, then I say claybar and wax it. It's sure to have picked up a little road dust on it's way out.

Good luck in La-La Land!

Thanks for the heads up

Why didn't I think to look there? Thanks for the heads up. I'm stoked on getting my car like no tomarrow.

Was Space Blue only available for one year?

It seems that MINI changes the popular colours after only 1-2 years, or am I just imagining this?

Yup, Space Blue is now an "06 only" color (at least in the US- not sure if they're going to continue the Checkmate package in the UK).

With the Silver roof discontinued as an option, I wonder if they'll offer the U-stripe in black/white, or if the silver hood stripe will go by the wayside as well.

MINI tries out new colors, but they won't keep them up if there's not a big enough demand.

Whatever their reasons, I like how we keep getting rarer and rarer!

my whole MINI is pretty much rare now. My SB/S Checkmate JCW. So far the SB, the S, and the checkmate have all been discontinued. Which also means no silver u stripe.

It looks like the space blue was sold mostly with the checkmate package and silver roof so if there are no more silver roofs or checkmate packages the only space blue cars left would be like mine, solid body colour, wich wouldn't be very popular. I like how rare my car is (solid SB with chronos pkg) and think if the 02-06 MINIs adventually become collectible the one year colour and packages, especially the 06 which had gone through all the refinements will be the most desireable. MINIs are one of the rare production cars (that aren't exotics) that may increase in value in 30 or 40 years the way cars from the 50s and 60s are now.

I agree. That was part of the reasoning behind the no-holds-barred option free for all. I plan on having the gekko until it's a classic like the old 2002 tii. With all the help here on NAM feeding the OCD detailing bug and catching all the issues, it actually might turnout that way.

Deviant, it looks like you and I thought alike. Solid space blue, I got the chrono and the English Panther leather upgrade too, plus JCW.

303 Fabric Guard and Turtle Ice

QUESTION: Has anyone used the fabric guard on the checkmate seats (on the leather and cloth), and interior carpet? If so did it leave any discoloration or change the feel of the seats? The last thing I want to do is spray it on my seats and be sliding out of the seat at every stop .
http://www.303products.com/tech/inde...Product_ID=429

I've heard alot of good things about the 303 product line. The guys over at the detailing thread seem to think that the spray for the vinal is the bomb for the engine and interior. I have also seen on this thread that the 303 fabric cleaner (not guard) works really well for cleaning the seats. And they seem to think that this Fabric guard is sweet for convertible tops and is a water and dirt guard. All making me think it is some great stuff. It seems mostly marketed to outdoor stuff and boats so I am a bit warry of useing it.

After spending hours reading the detail forum I am going to try to find a clay bar and put some turtle Ice on there after I get my ride on monday. I like the fact that you can go over the plastic trim. Any experiences with "Ice" waxing the trim by the way?

Same here...Iced last weekend (2 coats), looked great and no problems on the black trim. I also used Meguiars QD midweek to keep the car looking shiny, and that worked well too. 3 weeks in, and I'm at 1600 miles...and it just keeps getting better I still haven't driven in SD mode....

What's SD mode? Standard Drive... Like with an automatic transmission? or maybe Skanky Detailed Mode?

Oh, right on, actually I have heard it called steptronic variable transmission but not Sports Drive. Learn something new every day! I actually haven't gotten mine yet I get it on Monday.

Going on a winery run with my local MINI club today...I'll throw some pics up soon. I haven't posted in a while with everything being so hectic before school starts. Going to the dragon again on the weekend of Oct 14 with a few people if anyone wants to just show up...it'll be a good time.

What colour of model paints best replicate space blue? I have some toy MINIs that need a paint job to match Brandy.

Wow, you got me on miles, but I'm on track. 4-1/2 months, and I'm coming up on 6000 miles. Changed the oil at 5200, and it was black black black. No way could I have held out for 10k.
