I don't think I have ever seen that many checkmates all together...That's awesome. I do like the boot stripe...Very Checkmate like.

 

i definatley have not. speaking of which i saw a checkmate today. It wasn't the best color though. it was... dare i say it?... pw/b! LOL

it's actually a good looking car in that color with the checkmate. Ok, i think it's time for a checkmate thread. I'm gonna start one! Since I haven't seen one yet.

 

So cool to find other checkmate and Space Blue owners! We just picked up ours about 1 month ago. There happened to be another space blue checkmate MCS in the dealer showroom when we went to pick up the car. Apparently someone had ordered one and then decided they didn't want it.

I have got to quit reading this thread! Every time I see a new picture, I realise more and more what a fantastic color Space Blue is and it makes the wait that much harder. September can't come soon enough.

 

I just got my MC in SB/S in April. I wanted silver bonnet stripes to match, but the dealer said he didn't have them, only the white or black... So I have black ones. They are subtle, but I would really rather have silver pinstriping around the black or all silver instead. I would hate to take them off because of the cost to put them on (sure, only 79$ for the stripes then $200 to install them! ha) I love the color. It only looks like the color on the MiniUSA site right before sunset. Most the time it is a blue shade, I like that it kinda changes colors. Does anyone know about buying vinyl stripes online and just doing this myself, or will I never get it straight?

 

imthing1 go to cooperflags.com or aestheticreations.com and talk to ed at cooper flags or mike at aestheticreations and see if they can get you something unique or if you're looking for basics you can order your color in basic stripes from either one too. I got my boot stripe from cooper flags and like the quality, but those are the 2 largest graphics suppliers for minis. I've heard that they are easy to install, but if you don't trust yourself you should ask your local club or call local graphic installers to put them on, they'll be cheaper than the dealer.

 

So that's what my MINI will look like... mostly.

I think mine is supposed to get to my dealer around tomorrow or tuesday... i'm hoping. So hopefully, I will be able to get it by the end of the week. They said that they have to send the car out to get the aero kit installed. But I would love to have it for the july 4th weekend, if it is a weekend at all.

 

Hang in there. You don't want to rush them through the Aero Kit thing. The hard part is over, the boat didn't sink . . .

 

tell me about it...atleast yours wasn't headed to Charleston in Hurricane season.

 

you're right, i don't wanna hurry them up on the aero kit. They can take as much time as they need for that. It definately has to be done right.

 

They say it can take up to 4 days for the aero kit to get painted. In the meanwhile, here is a pick of my MINI at the dealer.



... and yes, this is the third thread that I've posted these pics in. Sorry just a little excited to get my MINI that i've already seen and taken pics of. I still have like a week to wait.

 

Another question... has anyone gotten their wheel arches painted at the dealer delivered? just by request?

i was talking to my MA today, and he said that they may be able to get them painted. In that case, I would love to have them like that from the dealer.

 

Bah. Checkmate. Back when I ordered in aught-5 there was no Checkmate! (I hope I used the right old-timey vernacular)

Seriously though, I got my SB/S before even the swoop bonnet thing, and to compensate, I'm thinking of getting silver bonnet stripes in the shape of the original white (or black) stripes from CooperFlags.

Just got the 15% pulley for Miles, though. Lots of fun to be had.

 

the checkmate came out at the same time 06's did, I thought...cause I ordered mine in the first week of october.

 

My build date was right when the '06s started, I think in the end of August. I recieved my MINI Oct 13th or so.
