Took my SB/S Checkmate over to Lucky Dog Garage today and got the OEM Bluetooth system installed. Very impressed with it so far.

George the owner of Mini Madness happened to be there as well....great guy! They were working on getting the 'Mad Dog MINI" ready for the races at Summit Point.

I ordered off the web site - we don't have a mini dealer in town. Love the pictures, but the color seems a lot darker than the swatch on the web site. Is it really that dark or is it just how it photographs? (Don't get me wrong - very pretty. I just live in a very hot state and didn't want a super-dark car).

actually the website doesn't do the space blue any justice. It looks greener on the website. It looks much better in person. You can see the metallic reflecting in the light. The color looks brighter in person.

 

I'm about to order a SB but the fact that it's not available with a white roof irks me. What do you guys think about how it would look white white roof/mirrors? I may get it custom painted unless the silver roof grows on me.

 

Hum, the SB is somewhat muted and in my opinion goes well with the silver roof. If I were going to get another MINI with a white roof (first one was an 02 EB/W) I'd look carefully at HB. The HB/W combo really "pops."

Go look in person . . . the good news is there are no "right or wrong" just opinions . . .

 

Thanks - I do plan to look at the HB/W again in person. My initial thought was that it might pop a little too much for me. I like the muted aspect of SB & suspect the SB/S may grow on me. When I get it I may photoshop a white roof on to see what I think.

 

That would be an interesting choice of SB/W. hmmm... But i know for sure that the SB/S goes really well together.

HB/W is also a good looking combo, but hey who are we kidding, is there a combo that doesn't look good?

 

I was actually thinking that Space Blue with a black roof and mirror caps would look cool. Or a dark (anthracite) grey.

congrats to spider...I know mine wasn't far behind. They didn't sell very many before people could see what they looked like.

I have the clearbra on mine as well...very satisified with it thus far. I took delivery March 19nth. My little one is going into the shop on Monday for some work that has me a bit worried. On the hood, the driver side windshield washer jet leaked and it has stained the silver vinyl on the hood. Windshiled washer solvent is mainly alcohol so it is corrosive and thus will strip color. So the jet will have to be fixed, the vinyl replaced and the clearbra removed from the hood and reapplied. I am not amused by this at all!

 

Well I hope everything gets taken care of and no more issues like that in the future.

 

Definitely took a risk, but when I saw the pictures on motoringfile, I knew it was what I wanted. Originally, I was getting a HB/W.

 

I remember it didn't look that great on the website. But when i was at the dealership, I remember saying what color is that?! And I loved it ever since I layed eyes on it.

 

That's funny, because that was what I was going to get too. I think a lot of SB owners thought or almost got the HB/W

 

I still haven't seen SB in person, hopefully about another week away. I spent the last 6 months wanting a mini and was dead set on DS/B with black bonnet stripes but when my wife sat down with me about a week before ordering to talk about it, she really liked the SB/S on the Checkmate...just not the rest of the checkmate package. We talked about it, and decided to go with SB/S sight unseen (only seen dealer chips). I can't wait to finally see it...

 

well it's the same for me. I was going to get hb/s, haha i'm different, cuz i was goin to get the silver roof. hehe. But really though, i was set on the hyper blue, until i went to the dealership and saw the space blue.

 

Hello fellow Space Blue Owners,

I sadly didn't get the checkmate , the wife didn't like all that went with it, so I compromised with her. Now I'm in the process of putting on the silver stripe But now I'm looking at going inside the bonnet and putting on the 15% pulley, iridium plugs and nology wires, has anyone gone these routes or know much about how easy these are, I know this goes with under the bonnet forum, but I just wanted to also get in with this amazing thread of Space Blue MINIs.
