Upper Engine Mount Failed Again? CPO Warranty Ending
In July 2025. After many calls to MINI USA (who refused to replace it under the CPO Warranty at 38,00 miles) and haggling with my dealer, they performed a "Goodwill" replacement of the mount. Of course, it's a known issue and there should have been a recall and/or lawsuit to force a recall. Now, 7 months later, I notice that about 50% of the time, the engine "shudders" a bit on shutdown. I am also having an intermittent issue (more noticeable when its very cold, where I hear what sounds like the front flaps are scraping against something when driving over dips in the road coming from the front passenger side. NEITHER of these issues are covered under the completely inadequate extended CPO Warranty, which ends in April 2026. I am bring the car in for a final checkup on 3/9. Is it possible that in 7 months that the mount could have failed AGAIN? I am also getting this message on my AutoPhix OBD 2:

A motor mount should last at least 40,000 miles in general, so I do not think that is the problem. As for that code, you might have a weak battery. Have the checked out first.

40,000 miles for an upper engine mount which costs nearly $2000 to replace??
Sorry, but that's unacceptable. I've never had these issues with any other car, even the six BMW's I owned over the years.
I agree that $2000 to replace a motor mount is excessive. There are options. I’ve seen at least a few different video tutorials on how to replace the mount yourself. If you are even slightly handy in the garage, it’s not too difficult to replace yourself, and the GP3 version seems to be built a little better. If your warranty won’t cover the replacement, start surfing YouTube to learn how to do it yourself. I find wrenching on cars rewarding when you can tackle an expensive repair on your own.
