Warranty Ending Soon

Purchased my Mini on 8/27/17. Only 38,000 miles as of today. I have never kept a car this long. Due to financial issues (thanks primarily to the past year) I get not get out of it anytime soon. Has anyone purchased the extended Warranty and is it worth it?

Thanks,

Joseph

Usually we don't purchase extended warranties for our vehicles but with our CM we decided we should. Dealers around my area were closing down and seeing these little buggers need a lot of labor time to fix certain things, it seemed like a good idea to my wife. Coverage is good for 5yrs/100K and our deductible is $150. Dealers charge that much just for diagnostic fee. The extended warranty just came in handy recently as the dealer had to replace the upper motor mount and wanted to charge me over $800 to fix.

Interested in this too as I don't plan on buying it at vehicle purchase time, and will probably wait until just before the factory warranty expires.

Is it true that they raise the price of the warranty post purchase?

OH YES they do. What really gets me is how they don't start the extended warranty after the factory one wears out. It starts right then when you pay for it. I mean your paying for an extended warranty, shouldn't it start after the factory warranty?
Ended up going with a third party extended warranty cause the BMW/MINI one was to expensive.

what the dealer sold you was most likely third party to begin with .... don't assume what the dealer sells you is MINI product .......

dealers make most of their money selling this junk ... not CARS.

"extended warranty" is insurance against trouble .... what if you put these SAME dollars in the bank and did not touch then 'cept for an emergency? And if at the end of the time, NO emergency, YOU GET THE MONEY with interest! If you paid CAR SHIELD how much do you get back? ZERO ........

Once you put enuf money in the bank, extended warranty is a COMPLETE waste of money. Until you get there (enuf) you need to do a lil thinkin'
