To my understanding that extended warranty from Mini can only be purchased at the time the car was purchased new.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
My dealer offered it again when Cary was at 40k. They told me so long as I purchased the extended warranty before the manufacturer one ran out, it was fine, but once Cary passed 50k it was no longer possible. We opted not to extend, but I still wonder if I asked to purchase one now at 75k if I could (i.e. was merely pressured to purchase at 40k). Oh well, still not interested regardless. Motor on!
The extended warranty can be purchased up until the 50k mark. If you are at 51-52k they may let it slide and allow you to get it, that would be on a dealer to dealer basis
I shopped MINI and aftermarket warranties when my 50K was approaching. MINI wanted over $3K for their 100K-mile extended warranty. I opted for the Warranty Direct 100K plan that was less than half the MINI plan. They are very similar in coverage and the WD plan is accepted nationwide, including at MINI dealerships. I will most likely sell my MINI before the extended warranty expires so it's a good selling feature for these cars besides the peace-of-mind it brings.
