There's a 2008 MCS for sale on www.bringatrailer.com with a ridiculous wing on it! Looks like a shopping cart from behind...

^^^ Nah, I'd call that a proper Englishman's "tea caddy"!
BTW, "veggivet" = "youaresleepy" on BaT?

I'm at BaT too, but rarely post there, when I do it's on an R53, a classic Saab, or some oddball exotica like this Bugatti where I was enthralled by the rev-counter and made inquiry about it:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-type-59-50-s/

Sadly,
nobody answered, not a large base of vintage Bugatti enthusiasts I'd reckon, for obvious reasons of $$$ mega-money LOL but still, their history is iconic and much has been written on their topic so I was hoping some crazy anorak might spot my query and offer up an answer...

...the commentary streams at BaT have long been one of my favorite aspects of that venue.

:

Anyway,
on topic of MFS/www,
Craigslist continues to dwindle as listings get thinner for R53 as they ain't poppin' up on regular like they were a few years back,
guess attrition rate also has something to do with it possibly as well outside of the site popularity decline?

Here's one in SoCal:

2005 JCW
112,000 miles
$7,000

I've always liked those Enkei Compe wheels, but wish that they'd just re-release the regular version instead of the 'ribbed' rally version which in my opinion looks a bit too 'off-roady'...

...and good-golly-miss-molly!

This is one heinously dirty engine bay.

YIKES!

Holy pigpen, Batman, that is filthy. The exterior looks good -- owner needs to peek under the hood once in a while.

Giving the seller the benefit of the doubt, maybe that's the first time the bonnet's been lifted????

If someone ignores the engine bay that much, imagine how little care they have given the MINI overall.

Maybe it’s so dirty from all of the rallying he does with the Enkei’s…

High mileage and needs some things sorted out, but the aero kit and rare dash pieces caught my eye on this one. If I had the time to work on it and place for it, I'd probably go take a look:

EDIT - I guess Facebook marketplace links aren't allowed...

I stand corrected...was thinking it was a five piece JCW one, but you're right, looks to just be a JCW badge there and it's not carbon fiber of course. At least its a first gen badge though.

There should be a lemon law for creeps

I apologize in advance:
Nothing positive, constructive or enticing to contribute.

So I'm looking to shelve (store) my 90k R53 and find a POS daily.

[Rant]
I came across this ad on "craigsscam" for an 85k mi, 2005 R50 = $4,500. Pictures(not many)/car looked good.
Exchanged a few pleasant emails with the seller regarding the "good/great condition" state of the R50. Could not get much detail from seller but the car sounded worth looking at by seller's accounts. Decided to meet. Drove out 30mi to meet and overview - the seller & car in a shopping mall parking lot. Police station right next door. Car was filthy, engine bay was caked with oil and dirt, no service records, speedometer didn't work (no proof of milage), cracked oil pan/5" puddle, leaking powersteering/3" puddle, silicone smeared over a cracked coolant res, bald tires, scored rotors, suspect blown shocks and CAB...Car would turn over but not start. Seller was kind of a jerk in his demeanor the entire time and stood firm on $4 grand. What a waste of time. I took a picture of the Vin. and drove away - Left him sitting there with a disabled Mini.
[/Rant]

Ran the Vin. Not much data. 5 previous owners no service records.
I admit; I was looking for a POS daily but this one really was the epitome of a POS by all definition. Poor Mini.
The listing had since been removed that evening.

Thank you for your time and allowing me to vent.

LOL be thankful it was only 30miles/ I've driven allot further for allot worse. People suck. Iven been watching a car in Miami. It looks great.. but Miami is thing./ Not interested in a 5 hour road trip for nothing but an excellent Coffee Con Leche' and guava bread.

Sometimes a good vent is necessary. And @DFTR is right: people suck (present company excepted).

Spotted this last night, which seems priced right (with apparent flexibility) for a project with potential:

2005 Mini Cooper S (project car) - $2,800 (FLAGSTAFF)

I wonder if its just a broken shift linage, or something bigger in the transmission? If its not, and it's just the linkage, that's a good deal for a DIY'er.

This car on BaT is not really my thing but it appears to be well-done. The text in the listing is a bit of a mess.

Aren't side mirrors required to pass inspection?

What inspection?

lol - depends on where you are I suppose. Here in ND, we're in hot rodder heaven. No emissions, no safety inspections ever, no registry cops, no nothing. No cat - no problem! Straight pipes? Let'er rip! Slicks on the road? You do you, brotha! Don't know where that one is - I do like orange, but that's a lot of it!

Shaved door handles,ok?... no side view mirrors,?? pretty shade of orange, ok?...+ read: "sound expression"...Eh??
- As you say; "not really my thing" either - but when I see they even painted the lower air dam - THAT is a BIG red flag (to me).
PASS.
