How well does this blanket hold withstand hail?

Hail is usually accompanied by strong wind so I don't think a blanket would stay put very long. Besides, a blanket isn't large enough to cover many cars except maybe an Isetta and then just barely...but then, you wouldn't leave an Isetta outside anyway.

Moving blanket/pads may offer more protection. Also a tarp over that may help keep the blanket/pad dry. And a good length of rope. Just a thought...............

I saw this thread when it was started, but didn't want to be the first to post my confusion...

In a pinch, if you have no other way of protecting it, a few moving blankets and a water proof tarp strapped down could add a bit of protection for your car, but so would wrapping it in bubble wrap. I wouldn't plan on this sort of thing as a long term protection plan but in a pinch, it could help.

Motor On!

In this part of the country, baseball size hail is not uncommon so 'taint nuthin' would protect against that except hail insurance and a dang good body shop.
I do like the idea of bubble wrap. The sound of bubbles popping would be a fun counterpoint to the sound of hail beating the s##t out of your car.

I am thinking this is some type of cryptic message from the North Koreans.

Was it the bubble wrap that gave it away?

It could be Dennis Rodman. I heard he slept on bubble wrap.

I am about to drive across the country... through the midwest. I sure hope my insurance covers me for hail damage.

When I used to live in Eastern New Mexico my neighbor would protect his truck by covering it with a blanket followed by a sheet of plywood and then a few tires placed on top of the wood.

He had zero damage when a storm with baseball size hail hit us.

I ended up getting a new roof on the house and most of the homes in the town needed their windows replaced.

I has one of my air-cooled VW Beetles in the garage but the one outside only received two small dings-good old thick German steel :-)

Most of the Japanese cars on my street were totaled.

This is the baby for hail protection. Once inflated hail literally bounces off.
