Radio remains on

Excuse the rather juvenile question, but when I shut the ignition on my countryman the radio stays on for a minute or two or possibly a little longer. Is this normal operation and if so, why does it not shut off as soon as ignition is turned off.

Tnx for answer.

Hold the On/Off Ignition switch for about a second when turning the car off.

Pressing the start/stop button once will turn off the engine, a second time will turn of the auxiliary.

My radio turns off the instant I remove my key from the receptacle in the dashboard. I don't have the Comfort Access option; that probably affects this behavior because you don't ever need to put the key in the receptacle.

Why does it not shutoff, well sometimes I'll sit in the car for a few minutes after I park, I'll turn off the engine but it is nice to still have the radio or bluetooth phone connection.

Radio turns off when I remove the key and the everything else (like the lights) turns completely off when I open the door.

Comfort Access and Radio

When the key is in the dash, I stop the car and hit the Start/Stop button, the engine stops. When I remove the key, the radio, navigation, etc. all stop immediately. Otherwise, the radio and navigation display stays on for a while. It doesn't bother me, but it seems strange. I insert the key very rarely - and am in the habit of locking the car with the remote even when the car is in the garage. Another Mini "quirk" I guess. (We had lots of battery problems with prior Minis when the car was not locked - the car was using power trying to communicate with the remote.)

Hitting the button a second time(as long as you're not on the break) will turn everything else off while the key is still in.

You can also press and hold the stop/start button when you shut off the car and it will shut everything off. In other words, a short press sits off the engine and puts in accessory mode, a long press shuts everything off.

I have comfort, so I just lock the door to shut the radio off.
