Ok, I'm holding off on the diffuser for now. I decided to paint my garage instead. Stay tuned for pics on Friday.

Hey CR, since you are doing a garage soon, what do you think of this color for mine? I test painted it this morning. It's called Birchwood from Dunn Edwards.

Got my silver turn signals. Lana is now complete. Not to say I won't do future mods, but if I never do another, I'll be happy with how she is today.

Going to look at a lot tomorrow after work. It's a LOT more land than I need or want but the price and location are too good not to take a look. What in the hell am I going to do with 5 acres ? Guess I can get a few sheep and a couple of goats.

Thanks for asking, Greg !

I'm going to go with something more bright but if you decorate that garage with bright and colorful things, then that color will look awesome!

I will say this. Always read the manual. I did when the wrong bulbs came in and it saved me a LOT of grief. I've changed tons of headlights and turn signals, and it is always from inside the hood. I cannot believe how easy it is with a Mini being under the wheel well. No telling how many screws and crap I'd have removed to get to that from the engine bay.

Guess I'm searching for a warm feel. Any tips on bright and colorful things? I don't want it to feel like a garage. I want it to feel like another room in my house that my car sleeps in. Make sense?

5 acres. Just get a big John Deer riding mower and play the theme song to Green Acres while you are mowing. Green Acres is the place to be...

Just a thought regarding style vs. function in the garage: Painting the walls bright white helps to keep the area around the car lighter, making it easier to work on it. Grays and beiges (and darker colors) tend to absorb the light.

Also, I'd suggest using 150-watt equivalent compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs) in all the ceiling fixtures. Go for bright white bulbs with a color temperature of 3100K-3500K, which will have the effect of providing more light than warm white (2700K-3000K) bulbs in the same size. Cool white (3700K-4500K) and daylight (4500K-6500K) bulbs provide a very bright white light, which some people prefer, but I think they're way too harsh. Finally, install a CFL-rated motion-sensor switch so the lights come on automatically when you step into the garage from the house.

Thanks Spa, I appreciate your comments. I currently have 5 large fluorescent fixtures with 4 bulbs in each. I think I need to keep them, as adding additional lighting is not in the budget.

So you don't agree with making it feel like an extra room?

So much easier to clean, and if I decided to put in a dart board in garage space 3 it would feel really cozy.

Sure it makes sense, Greg. I knew a guy when I was stationed in Wichita that had his garage just like a room in his house... carpeted, stereo with surround sound. He wanted his four cars, including his 1972 Pink Caddy to be comfy. Maybe he was a bit eccetric but when you're one of the founding owners of Tombstone Pizza, you can afford to be that eccentric.

Yeah, I would need a BIG riding mower to keep that from being an all-day mowing job. I'm thinking of ways I could cut down on mowing. I'm thinking my own, personal miniature golf course or one very interesting par-3 or 4 golf hole down with artificial turf. Hmmmmm.

I wouldn't say I don't agree, I'd just say I use my garage differently. You sound like you're going for a man cave, which a lot of guys do. Are you going to paint or tile (or carpet ) the floor?

BTW, when it's time to replace those fluorescent tubes, go for bright white ones.

I'm leaning toward three Racing Yellow walls with Red and White Checkered 6-inch stripe around the walls, and the other wall done in Chili Red with Yellow and White Checkered stripe.

I'm not much into "subtle".

Thanks CR. I just want it to look warm and inviting.

Then get a big *** mower lol. I like the golf idea though.

That color is definitely warm... goal achieved.

I had Race Deck floor tiles in my previous garage but I want to do the Epoxy coating on the next one. Much easier to maintain.

Here's a couple pics of the garage I had from 2006-2010:

Next one will look much better since I get to start from scratch. :-)

I had to work with what I had in that garage and it was pretty small, but turned out okay. Thanks !

(Hers) 2013 Clubman S w/JCW bits

Just got through the 1200 mile break-in period this week. Recent updates include window tint and swapped out the RFT for Michelin Pilot Super Sports. A few other updates are planned.
