Google suggests something about it being satellite radio ready.

It means that it is Satellite Radio Ready. Just means that its all in the system you just need your vin for your vehicle to get it rocking.

Looked into this a bit with 2013 MCS. Unless your radio already displays.satellite option and you receive the Sirius/xm preview channel, you need more than the vin number and a call to Sirius to subscribe. If the satellite function does not display, you may still have all the hardware you need (satellite receiver already built in), which was my situation, but will need to have your radio programmed to use satellite function. The part number forthe coding for 2013 is 65-12-2-336-819. Yours may be different. Take your VIN to Mini or BMW parts counter, they should be able to tell you if you have the hardware and use the enabling code. Cost was $360 including 1 year satellite subscription.

Hi Gamb - what part of the country are you in? I'm being quoted anywhere from $450 to $500 by a couple of dealerships to "code" the Sirius module. Sure it includes a year (value ~$180 minimum) subscription, but $500 to plug in their computer and enter some codes seems like highway robbery. Especially in light of the $250 factory price (which also includes the subscription). If you're relatively close to NY, it may be worth a road trip to get the flash for $360. edit - By the way I have a '13 S Hardtop

Unfortunately I'm in Northern California (Dealer was Niello Mini, Sacramento). I thought $360 was criminal. Are you getting a price related to a specific "part number"?

Thanks for replying. No, I'm not getting a price for a specific part number. I'm getting pricing for "activating" my Sirius module. According to two different Mini dealers, they have to buy the "code" from Mini. They both quote a cost of $375 for the code plus "labor" to update the radio with the "code" that will then activate Sirius. No hardware needed. The price for the "MINI Activation Code RAD2" (P/N 65-12-2-336-819) is $375 from both dealers as well as World Impex.

I did get the price knocked down from $375 down to $337.50, plus one hour labor @ $59. I asked why a $250 option costs $375 plus labor when there is no hardware involved. They said "that's how much Mini charges us." Your price of $360 sounds like a real "bargain".
