Another ??Good buy?? thread
Steven,
That sounds like a good deal. As mine was a contract date extended warranty also I only got 3yr/36k for $2k. I have 30 days to opt out so I'm going to do some checking on this company and maybe switch!

What is the name of the warranty company you bought.
Some are quite a bit more expensive than others but can be very good and offer a better program. Before I buy mine today, I would like to investigate the name of the company you bought. Thanks. Steven
I have driven myself nuts checking out the choices.

I will go to my shop this morning and look. The papers are in a folder in my glove box and my car isn't at my house but give me a couple hours and I will find out and let you know!
Luckily, Mini's have improved their reliability over the years. In consumer reports, they rated the 2010 as very reliable. I now wonder if that rating changes as the year goes by?
I guess i should keep my 45th month date in my calendar as to know when I need to buy an extended warranty.

or like i said earlier, take it in and have the service go over it with a fine tooth comb and see if there is anything wrong with it. i got the warranty for mine because you never know what the previous owner did. on the same token if i had owned it from new and didnt have one problem i would have a tough time making the decision of buying extended warranty.
Thanks Superfly. I look forward to the comparison.
I pick my MINI up today from the MINI dealer for the new sunroof and the timing chain replacement. ONLY 15,054. Kind of scary.
I believe that reliability is measured by what problems have arisen for the model year. If the car is 1 yr old, probably not much happens, but the model years 3,4 and older, that's where their true colors begin to show. I believe that a warranty is a good idea considering $135 hr labor and all the expensive things that can go wrong. An exclusionary warranty covering wear and tear is the only way to go.

Ahhh sorry it took so long my phone wouldn't let me reply via firefox for some reason. Anyway, the warranty I got through the dealer is "warranty solutions" insured by heritage indemnity company. It also says its a contract through wachovia warranty corporation. Hope this helps!
and then there is my jetta 2.slow that i bought with 98k. Now has 150k and havent really had any problems with it other than a map or maf sensor, 02 sensor and i think thats about it really. no im not comparing the jetta to my JCW but i am saying you just never know whats going to happen!

Superfly,
My suggestions are to do a search on google about warranty solutions, Heritage Warranty, and their backing insurance company. Look for complaints if any, and what their BBB ratings are, meaning all 3 components. The insurance company should be a minimum rating of A with AM Best.
You want the plan to be covering WEAR and TEAR, as well as GASKETS and SEALS. Also make sure you get the full 3 year 36K, although it sounds as if you do. If you are satisfied, then you are good, unless you want 5 years 100K or whatever. My pricing could be different than yours with my company I chose because of mileage or year differences, or even that you have a JCW. I have only 15K on the car. That could make a difference. When you call Paragon, ask for Rodney, he is the General Manager at Paragon. Let me know what you find out.

Well, I pulled the trigger yesterday and bought a 5 Year 100,000 Mile Extended Warranty Contract. The cost $2145.00 ($429 Down and 12 monthly interest free payments of $143.00) I can live with that.
It covers WEAR and TEAR, Seals and Gaskets, and is Exclusionary.
$100 deductible per dealer visit, although I can bring the car anywhere.
I labored over the 6 yr 72K warranty but I liked the higher mileage coverage.
I would have liked 6 yr 100K but that was not offered.
I have peace of mind now.

Good deal. This warrantry is through paragon? And it started yesterday not the day you purchased the car, correct?
What about vehicle years, does it apply to all years? Only reason I ask is because I heard some company advertising yesterday on the radio about extended warranty if the car is between 2002 and 2008. I thought about calling just to check it out until I heard that.

It starts on the contract date, being yesterday, and runs for 60 months hence.
The 100K on the odometer is total mileage. I believe that they will cover most vehicles. Basically you submit some information online and they come back with prices. You don't have to have the manufacturer's warranty still in force. (some companies require that). Hard to say what the pricing will be on yours. Your vehicle is two years newer than mine, but more mileage.
I don't believe that JCW would increase the warranty cost. I do know that if you have built in NAV, that is an extra cost. There is a 30 day and 1,000 mile wait initially when you buy the contract before repairs are honors, but they extend the mileage of the warranty out by 1,000 miles, which in my case would be 101,000 miles total. I just wish they had the 6 yr 100K 'cause I wanted my cake and eat it too.
They seem good, with the good BBB ratings and Best and company insurance rating. Additionally I called and spoke to one of their claims adjusters and asked lots of questions to be sure it covered this and that scenarios.
They offer some discounts if you use a referral name plus I get $50 whoever decides to sign. If you would not mind, tell Rodney you spoke to Steven Spinner. Thanks and good luck.
I think I might call today and at least inquire since I have nothing to lose doing that and see what kind of deals they will shoot me. And, I will gladly say I spoke to you, thanks Steven!
