Do Mini people still wave at each other??
Today while I was commuting to work in the second snow storm this week I passed another lightning blue hardtop with black bonnet stripes
we both waved and it cheered me up enough to get through the next hour of my drive. It was especially cool because I had just passed an F-350 that was stuck (haha) and was thinking about how awesome my mini has been in the snow, just to see an almost identical one a few hundred feet later also doing well in the blizzard like conditions!

I think focusing on when you bought your Mini as the catalyst of whether or not you're an "enthusiast" isn't the point. What it comes down to is that those that own a Mini, regardless of what their reasoning was for buying it, get it. There's still a relatively small percentage of people in this country that own Mini's (probably due to the lack of dealers outside of major metro areas) that whenever I travel to areas where there aren't many Mini's I get waived at by people in Surburbans and such.
I don't think waving is dead. For myself, I always wave. If the wave won't work I'll blink my lights. It seems that about 1/2 wave back in my area. Those that don't usually aren't even looking at me.
I have also noticed that "me-ified" Minis or Minis with stripes yield a pretty high wave-back ratio.

I just bought my first MCS this past Saturday. I was on my way home and I got two waves and two peace signs within a quarter mile radius. Nice to know that there are nice people who enjoy having fun left in the world.
After several months of not trying the wave, because I never get a wave back, I thought I would try a wave again yesterday. I was right next to a MINI at a light. We looked right at eachother. I waved. A big, happy wave! He stared at me like I had 3 heads, turned away, and drove off. I think I am done with the wave for good because everyone here in South Florida is so damn mean.

I can verify what wpb mini said... I live in south Florida and I wave at every mini I see. I get a wave back maybe 1 out of every 10 to 15 times. And one out of every 2 of those I can tell the person has no clue what there waving for, they just think there waving back at some random stranger that waved at them. However there are a few select minis around here that I always exchange waves with. They live in the neighborhood next to mine so I see them often..
been pretty good here in tampa bay lately. i was 1 for 2 on the way home today!.. a slow driving yellow cooper lady on the phone, gave me the "Huh?" look... But a teal/seagreen(? forget the real flavor designation) heeding out of a shopping plaza waved to me first! i hope she saw me wave back!
I'm beginning to think that they don't even LOOK at each other!
I had a BRG Cooper S pull up alongside at a stop light the other day; lady driver.
My tint is pretty dark, so I rolled down the driver's side and got ready to make contact, and give a "thumbs-up".
Nothing! Not even a glance.
Keep in mind that this is a small town, with maybe ten MINIs running around in it, and I've seen her car before. Driving lights, roof rack, it's pretty unique.

I have had only one person wave back at me since I got my Clubby last May. I am sticking with my pessimist view that people here are just mean. Or it could be that they are so concerned with their own little world that they notice nothing else around them. I will continue to share my MINI happiness with my kids/husband as we zip around town, but I am giving up on everyone else. Sorry, but I can't keep banging my head on that wall anymore.

thanks Tmini08. Somehow that has made me feel better. How has your MINI been since your accident? I remember reading about it and seeing the pics you posted. So sad to see a MINI like that. Hope all is better!
I am glad I could help lift your spirit. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Doesnt matter, just keep waving
Eventually we will "break" them (MUNGO
