Do Mini people still wave at each other??
I got a wave back today for the first time in MONTHS!
Thank-you to the owner of the Chili Red R56 MCS on Mockingbird Lane in Dallas this morning! :D
I can remember the first time I went to MINIs on the Dragon back in 2006. Once I got within 20 miles of Fontana, EVERY MINI waved back and they were EVERYWHERE!

In reading portions of this thread, several things jump out. One, some drivers' don't wave back. Perhaps, it's because they are unaware of the unwritten code or, if they are women they may not want to convey the wrong idea or, possibly they just have not read this string. How unfortunate because Mini drivers' I've come accross are good people just happy to be out motoring.
I would like to submit the following for consideration. This Labor Day w/e let us all make an effort to wave to as many Mini drivers as we can. It's a small gesture and it does not have to be an excited full-handed waving palm. i find the typical two-fingers from the wheel works fine. Don't be surprised if you receive a wave from someone who is not driving a Mini. It may be possible they have momentarily forgotton their Mini is parked at home. And don't forget to acknowledge the Mini's with dark windows, they're good Mini people as well!!!
Good luck to all, Happy Motoring.

Motor on!
Today an r53 driver (same color/paint scheme as my r56 mind you) waved at me cheerily and by the time I saw him I didn't have time to wave back!
Not my style usually!
I always try and give the wave when I see another MINI.

Waving for Better Health
I like the reaction this thread is getting because it reaffirms the original question should we wave. I don't take it personally if I do not get a return wave mainly because I assume other Mini drivers' are taking the responsibility of motoring to heart and rightly so. Any wave is a good wave and I believe this creates a ripple effect thoughout the day motoring around.
Wave on Brothers and Sisters, wave on!

Remember - Your results may vary for as many reasons as there are Mini Motorers' out there. I gave two waves this morning with no replies. I am certain they saw me but, alas, they blew by me making their left turns faster than they could respond. In the spirit of Good Motoring I'll continue to wave to all this weekend. Who knows, I may have made someones day in the process.

Laugh all you want Mickey1928. In my opinion, it does not cost anything to acknowledge a fellow motorer.

No harm, no faul!!! BTW, Thanks to the chica in the Chili Red mini last Friday who not only waved but, honked and blew me a kiss on the 22 at Brookhurst.

I am proud to say that My Girl( the one who complained about being waived at) is now getting on my case when i don't wave as a driver... but to be fair i was pulling out and threading the needle between lanes of traffic. lol never even seen the other mini(something to always remember when you don't get a wave back.)
But i was thinking about it, if mini would use that as a campaign would not jeep drivers, bikers, etc complain saying that they wave at each other?
so really to do a "Know the code" campaign, it would have to be more than waving at each other. some type of nice gesture to each other.
somthing like this?

I got waived at last night! I was waiting to turn left into a bar parking lot, and a guy in a pepper white S MINI (with black stripes) waved to me as he passed by
I happily waved back! I love being a part of this community

what part of what I wrote makes you think I feel otherwise? I enjoy a good wave; I just really appreciate a sunroof-wave all the more.
