It all depends on if it was raining!

I tried the 2-fingered wave, lifting only my fingers off the steering wheel the other day when I saw a MINI on the other side of the road. I don't think I got a response, cuz he was kinda far away.

FInally got a primo wave from another MINI after 2 months of MINI ownership !

Was travelling along a divided hwy @ 110km/h and can see another MINI (blk ov'er silver) coming in the other direction, (the road is perhaps 40-50' higher than me on the side of a hill) quite a ways away there is a guy with his hand and part of his forearm out the window, but I didn't know what it was really (several hundred yards away)...when I got to the point I was almost passing him in the other direction, I realized he was waving at me. !! I waved back vigorously, but just out the drivers side window (it was raining and I reacted too slow)
Whoo Hooo ! Thanks Dude. You made my day !

I got a peace sign returned from a hot chick in an R56 just today.

But then later I was rolling along with a Solid Gold straight Cooper - I passed her and she passed me a half dozen times in stop and go traffic and she never even looked at me.

Don't see too many Solid Gold's anymore...

I just bought my first mini a few months ago and noticed people would wave to me, it honestly made me happier to own my Mini knowing other people really got into the whole thing. Ever since i wave to other mini owners. It really makes my day when people are friendly and wave!

not great in C.R.

I am starting to get discouraged here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa... seems nobody waves here, at least that I can tell. I'm actually pretty surprised about it.

I have a neighbor two houses down with a Cooper in the garage... saw the lady in the yard and said hello to her, gave my name and told her I had a Mini, too, and she looked at me like I was from Mars. She must have thought I wanted to talk to her about religion or sell her something.

I'm getting the same treatment when I wave at other mini's in town.

Oh well. I'll keep trying.

There aren't many MINIs around here, but the few I have seen have not waived. Hasn't stopped me though.. I also use the MINI Link app to send waives to other folks not around me

New Mini Owner and got the wave...not the first vehicle that I have seen with that kind of devotion to ownership.

My friends Jeep...
My Dad's RX-7...only they would "blink" the headlights up and down.
and my Motorcycle.

Got three waves in as many miles one day...made me (and the other driver) smile everytime.

Only been snubbed a couple of times....usually been an older lady in my neighborhood, and a young teeny boppers that are to wrapped up in Justin Bieber or masacara or whatever they are into these days...lol

A Big Wave to All

I hope waving to other Mini drivers' does not disappear! In my opinion, it's all part of the motoring process. I acknowledge other Mini-Minded Motorers when ever possible and have never received any blank stares for it. Let's face it, Mini drivers are special! As such, they all deserve a friendly wave to make the commute to work a bit more bearable.

I was so happy to find this post. we just got our 06 JCW and when driving around we got waived at, my girlfriend started, going off about she hates that all the other mini drivers waive at her....

she said and i quote "do they think its cute that we have the same car or something?"

i told her about how bikers do it too.

she doesn't like the idea... she really doesn't like other people having her car. she actually gets mad when she sees another one :(

as for me, i used to get mad... but now that i see why... and that it is really part of owning and or driving a mini. i will be waiving from now on.... and it will only be a little while before she does it too.

and i also want to apologize to anybody from the Harrisburg PA area who got a blank stare from me.

Best explanation of it

i have to ask, special good way or bad lol. Because i could see how she could be taken as "BI**Y"

and this thread should never die... this why new mini drivers (like me) can learn and keep it alive.
