Maxx arrives next week!

Hi all, I ordered my JCW back in Jan and he is scheduled to arrive in Toronto next week where I'll get to see him for the first time, travel weary and new. He's loaded with every option I could find, save Satellite radio. Midnight black with red accents, red mirrors, black and red leather interior and yes, a RED ROOF!

The only time I have ever driven a MINI was when I test drove the tester at the dealer in Jan. When I got out of the car I said "We have some paperwork to fill out!" I've been chomping at the bit ever since. Wouldn't you know though, he arrives just before I go on holiday to Mexico! But that's okay, while I'm away they will be putting on the mods I want.

He sounds great, Buck! Congratulations. MINIs are so engaging, so accessible and immediate in terms of fun factor. A number of exotic car collectors keep MINIs as well, simply because they are so smile enducing. I'm sure you're going to enjoy every mile! Post photos soon!

I am still waiting to see a Green with Red roof...some might find the combo too garish, too Christmas-sy, but I think it will look classically retro. Won't someone please have the courage and spring for that combo?!

I missed your post, Antoine! If you are looking to "wrap" your roof in red, you should be able to find someone to do that just about anywhere. Lyle at Vinyl Styles travels the country doing exactly that--you can find him on Facebook or do a google search, but most window tinting businesses can also do the work, as will the many auto wrapping businesses throughout the country. I'm in the US, but I've ordered my stripes and some decals from friends from http://www.mini-graphics.co.uk/....the colors are perfect, the prices are really good, even with shipping, and they use 3M products, so quality is not an issue. There are also a number of stateside, including MINI's own: http://www.minimotoringgraphics.com/. Good luck!

I think green with a red roof would be cool. Check out the Paint Job thread, there are some great photos there.

Thanks Mackpupp1, I'll be posting photos as soon as I get him in my sights. I do have some pics of when I was in the show room, but that's not Maxx. When you see pics here, it will be the real thing!

buckland: I, almost ordered BRG ll with the Chili Red Roof. My wife talked me out of it, but I still think that is one combination that would look really great. Another thing, beings as we haven't seen any of this combination, even on this forum, you know that you wouldn't see yourself driving down the street in your JCW like, in many locales you do now. There's even one other Midnight Black and Chili Red JCW here in Des Moines. I haven't seen it yet, and I'll just bet it has a sunroof though.

It's time for Summer tires to go on Lil Guy. Trouble of it is, is that I don't know what wheels to go with. I want some light weight wheels, but don't want to spend $350 a piece. Anybody have some suggestions for some reasonable 15-16 lbs wheels that are of good quality? I'm either going with the Yokohama Invigors or the Continental DW's. And, again in the oversize 215x45x17".

I don't know if 15 or 16" wheels would even fit due to the front brake calipers.

Speaking of vinyl on the roof...
Would there be any detrimental effects to putting vinyl on the sunroof? I'm thinking that when I get my car, I might look into getting chili red vinyl on the sunroof so that matches the roof. I don't like the look of a black hole in the red roof, but I'm not sure how red vinyl would match on color either .

There would be no detrimental effects that I can think of, but red is exceedingly hard to match, so I think it would nearly impossible to get just right. Of course, not many people will be looking down on your roof to notice.

Wow, I had no idea that you had considered that combination. So close, I coulda seen a BRG with Red Roof, but I obviously understand the appeal of black with red. Meanwhile, I've yet to drive by another red roof, and I'm in Southern California!

Have you checked out TireRack.com? You can read ratings and customer reviews on each tire, and the prices are rather good.

I hadn't thought many would be agreeable to BRG w/Chili Red, but Hemi, you and I are all on the same page. Maybe we will see one yet?!

The next stop for my MINI is the dealer. He's going to call as soon as he's in, can't wait. Only a day or two now!

Wouldn't you know?!?! There is a train wreck between me and the dealer that's blocking all trains from getting to Toronto. My MINI was supposed to arrive today or tomorrow! I'll call today and see if I have wait yet some more.

That and most red vinyls are not very UV stable. They more they sit in the sun the pinker they get.

BRG and Tires

Blame Olga for the Midnight Black instead of BRG ll. As for the tires, I've pretty much made up my mind on either Yokohama Invigors (Alex's suggestion) or the Continental DW all season. The Continentals are a whopping $10. more, but I want to get wheels and those damnable TMPSensors. What a waste of $212 to me, but not having a spare means that one needs a little warning before something goes flat.

I love the look of the Rota RB's, but you need .15 spacers, which I am really, not all that excited about. Everybody has the OZ look, so I naturally want something different. I like Enkei's, but here again, $225. each for the wheels. Guess that's what I get for having to use either 17" or 18" wheels. Still open for suggestions.

We've got badges, though we received them in only two colors, Pepper White and Black. Here is the link for the badges: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ection-17.html.

If you would like your badge in another color, please go to that link and make a request. I requested that the badges be made based upon the JCW model, but we got S-Lites. I may have confused Craig since that's what's on my own car, I asked him to refine the image already, and I am unsure if I should press it further. If someone else would like to, I bet he'll accommodate...I don't want to tick him off by showing a lack of appreciation.

You may find Badge images on the first page of this thread. ;o)
