The Official Red Roof Club
I have wanted a red roof on my mini since I put the red mirrors on it in 2004.
My 03 S has 150K miles on it and I am finally able to mod it they way I wanted to all these years but I was not able to afford it. on the plus side. used parts are cheap. On the down side many parts are discontined or in the case of the JCW wing very expencive now.
Well I just got a quote to paint the roof red. $300 bucks. I may have the hood repainted and have black stripes with red accent painted on at the same time. no more sticker stripes for me.

$300.00 is a very good price to paint the roof red. I paid Golden State Collision Centers in Lincoln $1033.96 to paint my roof Chili Red from Black in August 2009. My 2003 red roof Mini is garaged in Sun City and only gets driven a couple of days a week now that I have a 2009 which accumulates most of my Mini mileage. I have not seen a Dark Silver Mini with red mirrors in Lincoln but being retired I am usually in the garage during commute hours. Today my red roof Mini did go to Roseville and Sacramento and was in the Lincoln Safeway parking lot after lunch.
Well I guess it does help if your brother is a auto body painter. I get family price. Pretty much materials and very small labor. Yes i will be painting
It red. Might have to wait a few months. I just spent a load on parts to keep her on the road. I also need new tires. No discount on those. This year is the year of the mini refresh. So she still feels new for another 5 years.

Are you color blind ? Please tell me you don't dress yourself on a daily basis, I look at you car and think, "What would a British Ronald McDonald want to paint his car like ?"
Please stick to 2 colors and you should be fine, hopefully for your sake that's not paint and it's vinyl.........

While you are free to speak freely, others are free to respond in kind. The great thing about owning a MINI is that it fosters some freedom of expression, and as a brand has encouraged the formation of a rather positive community. It is really a shame that you lack the positive attitude of the latter, and are incapable of observing the freedom offered by the former.
Howard, should he wish to make a change based upon your criticism, only needs to change the color of his MINI; whereas, if you should wish to make a change based upon my reflection on your attitude, you would need to grow up considerably so that you may walk through life leaving those you touch feeling better for having met you, rather than feeling worse for the experience. There is far too little kindness, tolerance and respect in this world (observe AZ this weekend, for example), and if you are incapable of showing the slightest of any of these on a MINI Board--for crying out loud--then rather than spending time sifting through photos of others MINIs, perhaps you need only to look in the mirror.

How does what happened in Arizona have anything to do with how ugly his car is ? Nice try attempting to attack character because I decided to be honest and formulate my own opinion about his car. If he decides to post his car on a public forum, he should be ready for opinions. If anything being honest is being more kind than lying and saying his car looks good.
>implying that freedom to choose how your car looks, means its going to look good by default.

The gentleman who was kind enough to post his MINI did so to share on this thread his vision and creativity, and he did so with a sense of pride. He did not ask anyone what they thought of his work on his car, he simply took the time to share with us, which takes a certain amount of courage, because it opens one up to the onslaught of unkind and disrespectful comments from those who make them in the darkness of anonymity.

True, and thanks for the reminder...
Just wanted to defend Howard and take the sting away from an unsolicited opinion. Howard, if you are following this thread, the only thing that matters is if a smile spreads across your face when you see your MINI; if it does, then it is a job well done, and that comes from the person whose opinion is the only one that counts...you!

Don't you think that we should have some badges, or stickers, made up for our Red Roofed little club that we have here? There has to be some one here with the ability to do the art and have something, REALLY NEAT. With lots of detail.
I agree...I have a design drawn out, but rather than really detailed, it is a bit minimal in design. Why? Because we all have different colored bodies, and I was thinking of something that highlighted the roof. So, maybe I could scan it in and you guys could tell me what you think? I have a friend who is a graphic designer, maybe she can help create something more polished than my sketch...or, perhaps, the nice gentleman who does the signatures can help us out....
Don't know why, but I just naturally thought that a Black body with the Red Roof would go best. Can't understand why, especially after you open up my signature.
By the way it's Winter here in Iowa, and today is Spring, or at least for three more days. Washed up Lil Guy, actually had a car wash do it, then brought it home and re-washed him. That Black with the Red roof really stands out when it's clean, or at least moderately clean. Just hate those wheels. A real bit** to clean. Going to have to get light black wheels when I go to the Summer tires.
