Is the Valentine 1 Concealed Display wireless?
Is the Valentine 1 Concealed Display wireless?
I know that both the V1 and the concealed display need to be connected to power but do they need to be connected with one another physically to communicate?
Dremel, I'll definitely get some photos up of my whole install, I've got a total of 1in of visible wire, from the headliner tot he port on the V1. I've got about 3in visible going in and out of the remote audio adapter but in order to see that your head has to be below the airbag in the drivers seat, which I've decided is more acceptable on my non show car daily driver than a ticket or a beeping RD during a traffic stop.
Also, you need 4 wire phone line, 2 won't do. I also run the remote display, am also going to get the the remote sound unit as my V1 is actually mounted in the back of the car, hanging off of the alarm box on the headliner. Completly out of the way and works awesome. I can post up some pics later if you like?

Photos as promised.... (excuse the dust it's been windows down weather here for a while)

Dremeled out the section of dash, removed the back part of the casing of the V1, so it's just the face plate and circuit board took some wire and tied off the back of the circuit board to keep it secure.

Wide view to give a better idea of location.

Remote audio adapter, hidden fro the driver by the steering wheel; within easy reach, allows me to manipluatle all the V1s controls without raising my hands above the belt line, making hiding the V1 in plain sight that much easier.

The V1 itself, level, mounted with the visor mount, flipped around so it tucks into the headliner, meaning no tell tale suction cup marks on the windshield, for officers or thieves. And considering it only lights up when parked or adjusting the advanced settings, it's virtually invisible to other cars at night, esp SUVs, so no more people tailgating to use my V1 instead of getting their own.
View from the drivers seat, in A mode and with a LIDAR alert, this positioning makes checking m speed when getting an alert easy.

@Motor On: slick setup indeed. I really like how you mounted the V1 using the visor mount on the headliner.
I was hoping the concealed display had wireless communication to the V1. I don't think I have the courage or the experience to mod the dash and wiring on the new MINI. Maybe in a few years.I think for now I will just hardwire the V1 and mount on the windshield.

I didn't do nearly as hardcore an install, but the V1 is hardwired, and clips onto the sun visor's right side. The remote display is at the far-left of the dash towards the front of the car, the wire runs from within the trim all the way until it comes out to the remote display.
Here's my V1 remote install using an alta gauge pod. It was a lot of work, but all the wires are hidden and I think it picks up the design cues of the interior while remaining stealthy.
