Bimmercode!

Coded Mickey to close the windows and sunroof with the key fob (finally) and various other things, sport mode on start-up, a few simple things with the lighting and warning sounds. First time using the Bimmercode app, so next I’ve been reading up on expert mode options before going deeper. Excited for that though.

Door swap. Everything but the latches, glass, and window mechanisms got swapped over.

Got home yesterday from MTTS. I had to clean the remnants of my kids out of my car. In prep for our road trip next week, I gave my wife’s car the same 5 step scrub. Now we have 2 shiny Minis.

Sorry to hear that. What is it about the south? I've been driving for more than 40 years and lived most of my life in places that have cold winters and the potholes that result. Have had exactly two flat tires. Both were during the 5 years that we lived in Florida.

Were these potholes or sinkholes? 😉

Thanks! Used the old marks on the hinges and it really put them right in place. May need a tiny latch adjustment, yet.

Not being that hot today in NY I gave Scarlet a much needed cleaning and installed the door shut protection film from Kill All Chrome. A peaceful and therapeutic four hours

Been chasing a idle surging on a R50 for sometime now and it lessened after tune up, Coil pack and spark plug wires, throttle body cleaning, and MAP replacement. Next is fuel injectors.

"Dire Straights - Sway Away"

Reluctantly;
This morning, I managed to muster the nerve to swap out my original factory rear sway bar with a brand new, 22mm Atla adjustable.
I also replaced the two rear drop links with new Meyle's and (yet another) ABS/wheel speed sensor.

Installed without a scratch!...Unfortunately I mistakenly bought Brake cleaner opposed to De-greaser so the undercarriage remains dirty.

Although the original components (90k mi) on my car were in astonishingly, near perfect condition and the swap couldn't have gone any smoother - Let's just say; I'm glad that it's done and over with.

With respect to the Alta 22mm RSB upgrade?
...I didn't really want it. I really didn't need it. I certainly wasn't in the mood to install it.
It was merely an impetuous response to a good $deal$ I just couldn't pass up = $183 shipped.
I have yet to do a real test drive to determine if I can feel any great difference.

All in all - I have tremendous feeling of accomplishment...and a better preforming car as a result.

I think you'll notice the 22mm bar!

I run a 19mm Hotchkis and noticed a difference, had it set to stiffest setting at first but after a while when my tires got pretty worn it got too squirrelly and the rear would want to break loose, so then set it to middle which I've kept it at ever since.

Wow - You weren't kidding!
Although I don't drive my Mini like it should could; I can definitely now feel how much tighter/stiffer it responds than before.
New tires next week.

@Here2Go enjoy the improved handling the larger rear sway provides! I hope your bar doesn't develop the dreaded 'Alta clunk'....

The 22mm bar is almost 2x stiffer than the 19. If the 19 is getting squirrelly with worn tires, watch for the 22mm bar to be squirrelly even with new tires, especially in the wet.

Ah - So what I may gleen from all this; Is that it may have been prudent on my part to do a little more homework before making such an impetuous decision? - Perhaps. I concur. Looking at it from a positive view; Input is always welcome. Thanks.

The squirrelliness that I experienced was both scary and fun at the same time LOL really fun because the rear would whip around like lightning, so I can deffo see the appeal running it like that for a tight autocross course, but for street driving it was scary because there was a very fine line between keeping grip and losing grip, there was a couple of times where I was totally caught off guard when the rear stepped out while thrashing through corners and I truly shat twinkies! LOL

To add:

I really really loved the stiffest setting when I had fresh tires because it would slide in a controlled manner. I'll never forget the giggle smile butterfly tummy feeling when first test driving and it whipped around so quick!

One of my local roads has a couple of nice hairpins:

Made me feel like a tarmac rallymaster when thrashing through those!

Although I still do not do handbrake turns as I'm too scared I'll mess up and go tumbling off the side of the mountain! LOL I'd love to learn that skill but really think I'd get myself into trouble so haven't pursued practicing that technique.
