General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
Bottom line - discussion like this is good so people can make decision as to what to do.
Yes they are. For me, if this is something that I like then it’s on to the next steps, harness bar and possible seat swap. If not, then I’ll look into the latch thing for the stock belt.
I got my coilovers in and rear lower control arms . Also did my brakes ( all 4x) and rear sway bar ends. I still need to do the rear upper arms and front sway bar end as well as my ss brake lines. Still have to put in front camber plates too but I juuuuust ordered them finally so soon as they arrive I will finish it up, get it aligned and then sent off for the body to be redone custom color.
Ny engines finally done and built , ny suspension is about done and soon comes the body.. I cannot belive how fast of progress I have made on this car.. what an absolute blast this build has been. !

installed some H&R lowering springs in the MCS... I have to say one thing what a royal PIA it was to remove the struts... Not a huge drop lets see once it settles after a few miles, drives great. See before and after below.
Nice drop, I have TSW lowering springs on my 2012 MCS, but I got a little less drop than you, Now if I hit a ruff patch of road I sure do feel it, but that's alright because I knew what I was getting into.
At almost 157,000 it was time for the fuel filter. Watched project mini’s video, and went to town. I had the pleasure of pulling the oem sticker off the ring, which I marked in 2 different spots just in case. Only issue is getting that last big gasket lined up, I had to push it in there and it wanted to bunch up. Once I had it to were it looked like it was lined up, I ran a small flat head under the lip of it, all the way around, and that helped if fully seat in. Slid everything back in and turned ring back to where both marks lined up. Primed it, started it, no leaks. Buttoned her up, fresh shell 93, took out for a drive, no cel, runs great, and actually seems like she is running a bit quieter at idle. Im ready for some dragon time.
Nice work, Jason! I have to say you are inspiring by just "getting to it" with each of your mods/maintenance items!
It was only 30 degrees out today and snow is on the way so why not just get er done. Got to work the next few weekends, but should be able to make first dragon run end of February begin of March, so I want to be ready, now if I only had a different steering wheel 😉
Well today sucked. My clutch is going out. So I ordered all my parts tonight. Everything should be here by Friday. Man, the past couple months have been brutal. I just did my timming chain an rockers now this. Ugh I need at least a little break.

Oh geez, you've been busy. Good luck with the swap. You doing the rear main seal as well?
Well I received my clutch today from rockauto. I open the box. An wouldn't you know it. It had been installed before. There was some ware on the clutch. Grease all over it. The throw out bearing was missing along with the alignment tool. Man talk about throwing a wrench into my work plans this weekend. 😒

Contact them and demand they overnight it to you for free? Charge you again, they pick up shipping. Return the used item and get the credit on your CC?

There customer service is online only.. So I did get my return label. I dropped it off at FedEx already. If I was not in such a hurry. I would have reordered it from ESCTUNING. I received nothing but the best customer service from them. But I had to order from Amazon. So I could have it here by Friday. Without having to pay a large amount for shipping.
Did what you are suppose to do with a MINI, got it out and drove it like a madman. It was 60 degrees and sunny here today and by Friday night it will be in the single digits and snow. may be my last drive in it for a couple of weeks.
Upgraded rotors and pads today...and got to buy new tools to do it, haha. Also first time doing brakes, I can't believe I've been paying someone to do this.
What do you usually do with the old parts? Pads throw out I'm sure, but the rotors? They only have 12K on them.

I assume they are Mini rotors? If so, ditch them. Yeah, brake jobs are pretty straightforward. I recall when I took my Mini (prob 2005-2006) back in for its first brake swap, Mini pitches everything. I was told that the Mini brake "service" was $595 which includes new pads and new rotors each time. (shaking head) It was a good reminder that when the brakes were up next time, I purchased aftermarket pads and aftermarket rotors and never looked back. Much more economical and less dust...
