It's 06/R53. If it were only that easy, the bolt is threaded all the way through. The nut is already off, that is what sheared off. Drilling it out seems to be my only option other than replacing that whole knuckle..If someone has any ideas, please offer, thanx.
I'd be surprised if there was another option besides drilling it out. Start shooting it with penetrating oil and get a solid drill bit. If you are lucky, as you start to drill into the bolt, it will turn itself out saving you a bunch of time. Then you can put everything back together.

Curious to see how this goes.
You are a true optimist my friend.
I will tackle it this weekend while the wife is out of town. Once I remove it, was thinking of getting a longer, slightly thinner bolt so that I can use a nut on the opposite side so I won't have to worry about the bolt seizing in the future.. thoughts?

Heat works too. What side is it? I have a passenger side knuckle somewhere if you want me to look for it. They're $40 bucks at the scrap yards by me....

Oh boy, that is not a good response! That must be really stuck in there!
Ok, if/when you get that little btrd out, find a replacement bolt and slap on the anti-seize? Making future dealings easy(ier)???
I would be a little nervous about the thinner bolt and nut setup. A lot of "what ifs" with that avenue.

It's the passenger side. Thanks for the offer, believe me, I will let you know after this weekend. I won't have time until then, thanx.

I've ordered two bolts just in case it happens on the other side. When I get to the other side I plan on soaking it with lube and heating the crap out of it the night before. I'm the 2nd owner of this car, it was only serviced at the dealer, these struts were replaced several times according to Carfax, don't understand why that bolt was so seized.
I have a tap die set, so I will use the original setup once I drill that bolt out, thanx for the response.
Finally got around to ripping down the old crusty hood insulation. It wasn't as bad as I thought, and I started to detail the whole underside of the hood. Now off to find a new underhood pad. Not as easy to find as I thought. Anyone know where I can get one for a decent price and not the dealer price? The old one got ripped up bad, is not worth cleaning and trying to salvage. Thanks
After getting a coolant flush I used the dealership garage to put on some fun accessories including a rear hatch mat to help prevent scratches. Looks pretty good but looks were second to my actual need for protection. I use my "boot" a whole bunch. I am still adding on components. I just wish I could get my iPhone 7plus to pair with my mini. I did the software update via usb while adding on my accessories but I still con not pair my phone :(.
Along with the accessories I slipped in a new Mann charcoal cabin filter, AEM drop in intake filter, JB+ booster and full Pentosin oil change with Mann filter. Here are some pics.
Anyone successfully using a iPhone 7plus via bluetooth? If so how?
Rubber mat looks nice and is adhered by 3M strip tape. Time will tell if it holds up.
Black Jack door handle trim. Sorry its fuzzy.
Black Jack hub accessory. We will see how long they hold.
One of my favorites, made out of a solid alloy or metal, the adhesive didn't seem strong enough. I hope if it falls off, it doesn't get lost. Time will tell.
90,000 miles on my 2010 Camden R56. Dust free Akebono brake pads have been a delight. Replaced thermostat at around 70,000; replaced spark plugs at 50,000; oil changed using MINI oil every 5,000. Michelin Pilot Super Ports grip like on rails. Put a rear bumper/loading area protector on a few days ago (from Mini Mania) and it looks like a factory item, very nice. Stainless steel mesh grills look fine and offer protection from rocks, etc. Got them from Zumsport in England for about $200. Easy install doesn't harm any original materials.

Just one thing more to do then... pop some pictures of the addition results and your Camden overall for us to all oogle!
They are there, right side up and very visible... thanks... great Camden! Excellent color and wheels. Same for the grills and bumper protector. Ogling in progress!
Thank you. I had the plastic timing chain cassette and the tensioner replaced recently at Motoring Magic in Thousand Oaks, CA and, strangely, the car idles noticeably smoother (in neutral it's so smooth I can't tell if it's running — previously it was lumpy) and pulls better under acceleration. I know it's not just a placebo effect, it is real. The entire job was around $200 and now I don't have to sweat it any more. Scott at MM is extremely knowledgable regarding MINIs and had a few gorgeous ones in the parking lot. Did it at around 85,000 miles.
To this day they are still my favorite tires. And I certainly felt the huge difference has I had to swap to winter tires for the season. That's when you realize what a good tire feels like, when suddenly you feel unsure of the pavement grip
It's a real shame I'm not certain I will keep using them in the future because they just wear a little too fast and a little too un-evenly right vs left tire sides (or inside vs outside).
What did I do to my Mini today? I traded it in... Not by choice, but out of necessity. My R56 just isn't big enough for our needs now with 2 kids and an exchange student.
After 2 amazing years with my 2011 R56S "Pepper", I've moved on to my 2014 R60S All4 "Red Pepper". My three year old decided on the name for me. I was crying when I had to leave Pepper behind at the dealer. If anyone sees her out on the road near Northern Illinois, let me know!
