Found out I have been driving a week without any gas cap, body shop forgot to put it back and my new locking mechanism isn't locking, they forgot to plug it in! Thant's why my MPG has suffered so badly, I first though the people at the body shop had siphon gas from my car. That's how bad my MPG is lol!

I finished the first half of my "Calforhelp Mod" on my tail lights. I'll post pics tomorrow when the adhesive dries.

I'm assuming you added the white cone to the blinker, what's it supposed to do?

I actually tinted the red lenses and painted the chrome cone Pepper White to match the body color. The white seems to actually make the turn signal seem brighter than the chrome. It wasn't intentional, but it works.

I used calforhelp's thread as a guide for this project found HERE.

I love the way it turned out. See my attached pic for the before and after.

A great day for L'il Red! Put on a Borla cat-back exhaust system. It was time. I had unloaded something from the trunk and noticed a metal piece hanging unnaturally off the back end. Closer inspection showed it was the drivers' side muffler hanger. The passenger's side was in no better shape and the box looked like it was about to blow out with rust.

Gotta say I love the sound!

Actually the chrome one looks out of place on your white paint job and the white cone really adds to your Mini's looks, now you got me thinking about painting mine dark metallic grey.

I have the Borla and love it, very high quality construction! It has the most aggressive and attractive tips I have ever seen on an exhaust, just you wait to I remove my catted down pipe and second cat!

Well opinions may vary, I have heard both without any cats on the exhaust and the Borla S-Type is more throaty and deeper sounding.

Borla S-Type

fJCW exhaust

Got some new speakers and the type 74 light bulbs to put in the climate control assembly ... just need to rotate the cars to get them into the garage one at a time to do the work. It's to cold to sit out in the snow and do it.... Brrrr!

Motor on!

Replaced the alternator today. Guess it needs to be done every 345,000 miles or so.

Got a check gas cap light and then a service engine soon light. I scanned it and found the code P0455 some kind of evap leak. I checked my gas cap to make sure it's tight and then checked the lines.

I found some moisture on this part, is it related in anyway? It's on the passenger side next to the gas tank.

Thanks

Charcoal canister, doing the same now. What a hassle, have to remove the gas tank to do mine.

Polished some waterspots out of the hood last night, and while I was at it... decided to buff and wax the whole car.

Very happy with the results.

Got a compression test done today and the news was not good. 0 to 40psi in cylinder 2. Guy said he was pretty confident that I have a burned exhaust valve. Looking at my options right now. Not a good day in the car world today.

I went through my whole car again and realized that I had installed the purge valve upside down when I had the alternator rebuilt So far no check engine lights after 3-4 cycles so I'm hoping it stays that way.

I finally finished the other tail light. I also...

- Tinted my reverse lights
- Installed the beltline blackout vinyl
- Dipped my rear Mini logo and "Cooper S"
- Cleaned and painted my exhaust tips gloss black

I still have a lot more to do, but Pepper is on her way!

A little frustrated... Have 102k miles on him and the car is now making a screeching sound from (what I believe to be) the supercharger.

After researching this, it appears that this is the START of the supercharger going. Have a date with the dealership on Saturday to confirm my fear. 102k miles? Clutch lasted longer if that is the case...

Anyway... assuming the worst and hoping for the best. Worst case scenario, looks like I will be looking into a new S/C, water pump, 15% pulley and related gaskets. I believe everyone has stated that this takes about 5-6 hours and 2 people.

If it is the supercharger, I will be torn. Half REALLY irritated that it went so early but the other half relieved that I know the supercharger/water pump will be MINI new. While I am in there, I will be replacing the radiator, thermostat, housing and hoses. Another 100k miles of easy driving in theory...

(Yesterday) finally finished my Redline Goods leather steering wheel wrap and installed the English Oak dash panels and door pulls I got from another member here (replaced Piano Black pieces).
