That ain't wax, that's cosmoline () that's sprayed on the car to prevent corrosion during trans ocean shipment. You need to wipe it off with kerosene before it hardens or it will damage the paint and plastic bits permanently! Your dealer has to do it under warranty.

PS: If you try cleaning with kerosene, immediately wash the kerosene off with warm soap and water.

+1

I had some pretty bad cosmoline drip and because of triple digit heat it was seeping out all over my wheel arches like olive oil. I took it into the dealership last summer and they replaced my arches and attempted to get all the excess cosmoline off. I thought they did, until the other day when I left my car out in the heat for a few hours.

If you see this stuff, do what Dwight says and get it quick otherwise it will stain.

I really wish they stopped smearing this crap on our cars. I don't think the BMW's get shipped like this.

BTW, where the heck were you at that hit 104? It was a pretty nice 85 ℉ here in the east bay.

Spent most of the morning cleaning the tar/sand substance from the white wheels. I have been using Wheel Armor on these wheels but still needed to wash the car and wheels, then just on the wheels: Fisrt I needed to remove them from the MINI and used Opps (to remove globs of tar/sand, followed by Color Back (to remove the smear film left by the Opps), followed with a reapplication of Wheel Armor. This took about 5-6 hours of my morning. I do get somewhat **** about the washing and drying of the MINI however, it is looking tight once more !!!

Thanks for the advice guys... But I already read about Cosmoline and just forgot the name. Sorry I called it wax.
I had a bottle of Plexus and used it to wipe it off and took it off quickly.

@Silouette.. I was in Tracy visiting some friends and wanted to break her in anyways.

So Cosmiline was leaking and Wiper nozzles Weeping today. Dam it sucks.

Finally got around to throwing on my NM Torque Arm insert and COBB skid plate/sump guard. The torque arm was a breeze but getting it back in was a little tricky, had to use a pry bar. The skid plate was easy as pie and now If I ever do go Auto-X'ing I am protected from cones!

sorry didn't have the patience to snap a good pic.

Oh no, that's not chrome, its tape!

around the back of my countryman, just below the rear window, there is a piece of chrome looking tape, and its shrank and is coming off. I was really disappointed that this is just shiney tape. I'm calling my dealer. Anyone else have this?

If you're not keen about drilling a hole in the bumper for that splitter, here's another way to do it. Just put a 1.25" fender washer on the inside and that gives a solid mounting point for the toggle bolts. Mine's been on +6K and it ain't budged. BTW, that splitter ain't just for looks. It works!
