Best driving/chase scene in a movie
This was great - went to YouTube and watched both the Ronin and Bullitt chase scenes with my 15 y/o son. His comment on Bullitt was that it was "old school, but still really cool". Best part is how the chase evolves with both the cars and the people as emotional parts, rather than just being an "OK, hop in the cars, here's the obligatory chase scene" part of the movie.
Ronin has some excellent scenes, but I swear both chasers would benefit from a little PIT-maneuver training rather than the ineffective "bump the cars side to side" move.
Best MINI scene, though, has got to be the Italian Job blue mini handbrake turn just before the helicopter catches up, where the car swings to a stop and seems to look at the camera and growl, with the front tires turned "just so"... just before the line "nice move, Steve". (I may have watched the movie too many times) .

Oh, yes......Bullitt / it was and still is great / went back last week and revisited the scene. . . old movie, but still a fantastic sequence and no computer gimmicks that can often be seen today. . . however, the others mentioned above are all great scenes, but I will have to stay with the one that "sort of invented today's style car chase" as my BEST

Bullitt certainly is the standard, but I've always loved Gumball Rally. The concept of racing across the USA makes this the longest race/chase movie.
A part was filmed in Prescott too!
Great thread! So much for doing my taxes.
