I was watching TV yesterday and a show on Discovery Theater HD called Mega World: Sweeden with Kevin Brauch. The show was about top things about Sweeden and 40 min into the show there goes the host, Kevin walking in Stockholm and gets into a Sparkling Silver MCS with Red Leather.


at the Artic Falls Test Track proving Grounds in northern Sweeden, Getrag took two MCS and made one AWD. Then tested them on the track and compared the two one with AWD and one without, in the hope's BMW would make an AWD version.

It was pretty cool and even better in HD. I found a video on the web of the entire show...it starts at 30:45.

I watched the video...where they show that split up hill track, one side ice, one side dry pavement, wouldn't a readliy available LSD equipped car make it up the hill?

 

An AWD Mini would be sweet and then see them get back into Rally racing as history demands!

 

Awd is what I have been waiting for in the R53/R56 package. The 40/60, front/rear, split sounds like fun.

Come on MINI, build it, they will come!

The show appears to be from January(?), but the Getrag story looks like old news. BMW has supposedly already decided to apply the only AWD offering to an SUV with MINI branding. No one wants an AWD MCS more than me, but I doubt it will ever happen--despite great prototyping by Getrag.

 

Getrag would be more than happy to make one for you. You are a millionare, right?
