Tarantino filmed the movie backwards.
I thought it was two different cars, Nova and Charger (Mike's), anyway one of my favorite car chases.

Might not count (he was chasing love), but the drive thru Paris in a Ferrari really lights my fuse.

I remember a few years ago finally seeing it in widescreen instead of TV crop and was amazed how well it stood up after all this time.

Bullitt should be the standard by which all other chase scenes are judged

Yes, it is a bit cliché, but I have to say that Bullit is indeed the gold standard, by which all other chase scenes are to be judged, forever and ever, let it be done.

There was a good chase scene in "The Rock" with that yellow Ferrari.

The BMW films were great too!

What about Hammer and Coop? (Certainly, I'm kidding)

Lastly, I leave you with this: the original Mad Max movie, with Mel Gibson's black interceptor, the Australian Ford Falcon, (with the BLOWAHHH!).

IT's not really a chase... It's called "Rendevous!"

But it's some of the best driving on film ever. Turns out that it's from an evaluation of a new hood mounted camera.... The police tried to arrest the producer of the film (or director), but they couldn't prove who was driving at the time. This gives pretty much any Ferrari fan a woodie! The romor is after he gets to the girl, pretty much every cop in Paris surrouned the car/film crew!

IT's a single cut, limited by how long the roll of film would run. No spicing (can't say that about bullitt, look how many times you see the green beetle!)

Matt

Score another vote for Bullitt. No CGI, but lots of hubcaps and Beetles. The timing was just so good.

Others? Blues Brothers for laughs and a French Connection redux (watch the bicycles!), and the scene in the Bond film when he heists the lady's Alfa, worth it for the drift onto the army base...

Bond movie

How did I ever forget the Tank chase scene in the Chek Republic. Loads of laughs as Bond squashed all those cars

The movie "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World". The whole movie is a car chase. The beginning when Jimmie Durante crashes on the mountian road and kicks the bucket. Literally!!

Couple of good scenes in Gumball Rally:

Ferrari Daytona being chased by a police Bell Jet Ranger helicopter...

Chopper Pilot: Sir? We can't catch 'em.
Roscoe: Whaddaya mean?
Chopper Pilot: They must be doing 180. We don't even have a fixed-wing that'll go that fast!
