NOT Forge BOV Noise after all...

Okay I swore that my new noise was coming from the Forge BOV especially after listening to online YouTube Videos.

NOPE -- It was the DoS CAI .... I installed the CAI and BOV and OCC all at the same time. After removing the Dos CAI ... 99.9% of noise was gone. WOW!

I cannot speak bad about Clint @ DoS (or DoS) because they have been providing great customer service and feedback since day 1.
Although I have not yet ask Clint if I can get a refund for the CAI. Either way .... if he approves a return or not.... I cannot speak bad of them.

I do wish I would have known about the noise .... (which was basically hearing the suction of the CAI on acceleration) before purchasing.

It defiantly was loud enough for me ... to go back to stock.

If I used the car more as a daily driver and very easy on acceleration.... It would not have been such an issue for me. But because I have a lead foot.... to much noise for me.

Hopefully DDM works will come out with an intake that works with a upper strut bar. This is the only reason I went with DoS vs DDM works. To use DDM I would have to get rid of my strut bar. (not worth it for me)

Thanks for listening.... hopefully this info will help others.

What are you gonna do about that hole from the DoS install?

Luckily I purchased DoS firewall panel.... for $100 or something. Was able to just re-install my old panel.

If someone is interested... I would be willing to GIVE that panel away. Of course you need to arrange shipping or pick it up in Charlotte. Waiting to see if I need to sell the DoS CAI or can return it.?

FYI I did drill two small holes in DoS panel.... originally hung the OCC from panel. Other than the 2 small holes... its perfect condition.

Sounds familiar.

I just had Clint install my Dos CAI and Oil CC at MITM. At the same time I had the Forge BOV as well as a FMIC and some other goodies installed by Way at MITM. I know the sounds. I hear 2 distinct sounds. One is an air suction sound with a little bit of whine at higher revs. The other is a "tinny" sound, kinda like shearing metal. The latter is the Forge BOV and that's just how it sounds, there is no avoiding that. The air suction is of course the CAI.

When I got this installed, I had the full plug installed by Clint from the get go. Mainly because the wife made the trip up to MITM with me and I didn't want to hear her opinions about the sounds that may or may not come from under my hood; because frankly, I didn't know what to expect. Coming from a stock car, with everything installed, the noise maker removed (due to NM pipes installed, etc) with the DoS full plug installed in the CAI, it was as quiet as stock. You hear almost no air intake OR BOV noise in the cabin.

Last night I took the plug out and installed Clint's modified plug (2" hole) into the CAI. It was a night and day difference. Took the wife down to the store and she immediately noticed the noise and was surprised on how loud it became when I got on it. Especially the forge BOV.

I HIGHLY recommend the full plug from Clint. I personally wouldn't go with the butterfly baffle as I think you would hear the baffle clicking open and close every time you pass 3500 rpm. If you don't have one already, get a modified plug from Clint as well. It is a standard plug with a 2" or so hole cut in it to match the opening on the end of the filter. This allows the air pressure to be ideal as the air sucks in a direct stream through the opening. I plan to keep the full plug in for my daily driver and use the modified one for track days, club runs, etc..

Hope this helps.

The DDM Works intake sounds the same. On the 2008 S I had it would make the loud sucking noise when floored. In fact on my 11 JCW I hear it with the factory intake, but much softer.
