2011 JCW Exhaust

I like my exhaust and like the pop, burble.

I just want a little more power..... to go along with my other mods.

I am looking at DDM Works race exhaust..... and a few others.

Want to stay under $1000 and get turbo back.

I actually told myself I would keep the stock exhaust originally.... but I guess I have been talked into spending some more $$$

Suggestions?

(I'm assuming I could sell the JCW exhaust.... for how much I don't know..... or should I keep it .... for dealership work/returns )

Thx

P.S> Sorry for all these questions. I have been scouring the forums.... and searching. Which usually just brings more questions. Than Way @ WMW's gives my the thumbs up or down.

He has been a huge help.... and I know I'm doing my part.... buy spending so much $$$ at his shop.

If I understand your question ... You are looking for more power ... And, like the stock exhaust ... With that being said you might want to contact Alta Performance and speak to them about some mods. An AP (access port) purchase is an easy mod for your JCW. This will give you more performance without having to change the exhaust.

Been there and done that. I have dyno tested almost every aftermarket exhaust that is offered for a r56 and results are that at most you pick up 2 to 3 whp with a aftermarket exhaust vs the jcw exhaust.

I would not spend the cash on exhaust instead I would look at a catted downpipe and a safe tune.

Would you use a stage 1 stage 2 with a JCW exhaust? On the accessport ...

You can't go up to stage 2 until you have a turboback exhaust IIRC.

If I end up keeping my JCW through spring, this is what I'm going to do...

OBX or Riss Racing catless downpipe with a straight pipe to a muffler in the back.

That way I can keep all my stock parts and go back to stock if need be.

stock intake
intercooler removed and replaced with finned aluminum tube with water/meth injector

stage 3 tune (jan/rmw highboost tune makes alot more power)

Better buy some earplugs if you plan to run catless.

Exhaust for JCW

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm very satisfied with my stock JCW exhaust. Sounds great, especially with the Sport Button on and now that I've got some miles on it, the sound is great in normal tune.

I intend on making some modifications after the Winter season is over, yes I drive it in Iowa winters, just put the Michelin ICE tires on.

Just got back from a 2600 mile run down to Texas and back. Great, and I really mean great gas mileage, got some interesting looks as I accelerated from 70 to 85 on a few occasions. Guess that they were surprised that Lil Guy could get out of their way. My wife even said that she thought that the JCW rode better than her Jeep, which is what we were going to use for the trip.

My ideas for improvements next Spring are: intercooler, the AccessPort and an improved intake system that I don't have to cut up the firewall for. Any suggestions what is the best bang for the buck?

Jack$On: Wish I’d seen this thread before MSSD.
You could have heard my resonator delete – no more power compared to stock, but I like the sound.

Had Milltek on a previous VW turbo GTI.
Very nice sound and reported modest HP gains.
Wasn’t cheap (price or quality).
They do have sales from time to time that make a substantial price difference.
Bought mine through: http://www.stratmosphere.com/

+1.

ALTA AccessPort is a great mod for < $1000. I'm only running Stage 1 and there is a nice bump in power and they have great support.
