Got my first ticket
Got my first ticket
Being a firefighter I've not received a ticket in several years. Before my JCW I've always had modest sedans and when I happened to stray past the posted speed limits my badge would certainly get me out of any jam. Professional Courtesy, found that out fifteen years ago when I made an illegal u-turn in front of football stadium.
Well, since purchasing the JCW I've been driving faster...and faster...annnd faster. Took her on her first road trip a couple weeks ago. From Cleveland OH to Quantico VA. Nice drive there and back, both days sunny, 60's and wide open roads most the way. My best friend is a cop and before I left I told him I needed to get pulled over because I'm not slowing down.
On my way home from Quantico I was pushing the 120+ mph range having a fine time and not beleiveing how smooth it all was and how much top end punch I still had from 90 mph and up. Sport mode on and ETC and DSC off it was awesome. Just as that thought was finishing in my head here comes the Pennsylvania State Police. I did not pull the badge out for fear of disgracing my city, I admit I was way over the limit and guilty for sure. The trooper was nice enough to notice my military plates and cut me "the biggest break" he could slapping me with a fortunate $110.00 ticket for "failure to slow on a dangerous curve." I was very lucky to get only that.
The trooper stated as I signed for the citation that I had been talked about on the radio all morning, that aircraft were saying "blue mini cooper between 120/130 mph." He said they could not get troopers onto the turnpike fast enough and his job was to just sit there near the state line and wait for me. I let free an ever so slight closed lip smile to which he said: "that's nothing to be proud of sir."
Is it wrong that I am?
