2009 Factory JCW
Precisely. Like Mark I'll be pouring more than 40K into my MINI and I know I won't regret a single dollar. I'll prefer my car to anything else I could have got even at that price and that's because deep down I wanted a MINI more than anything else. Quite simple really.

Just kidding. Congrats. You know that photos and an extensive review will be required of you.
By that do you mean you put a deposit down or ... ?
Sorry. Yes, I put $1000 down (first to do so at Mini of Mountain View) with assurance from my MA that I'll be the first order to go in once he gets allocations. Hoping for delivery in the second half of July. I'll be happy to post an extremely subjective review once I've put the car through its paces...
Cheers

Wow. I just discovered this thread.
If the true price really will be upper 28k, I think this will be a bargin.
My S came out to 27 and change. For another 2 grand I will gladly pay for up graded brakes, engine and tranny. I'll forgo all the interior options.
Does anyone know what the MPG will be. I suspect it will be lower 30mpgs seriously negating why I choose the Mini in the first place :(.
Also, does the Aero kit come with the JCW? As far as exterior, it only mentions the lightweight wheels.
EDIT:
Okay so...
Base JCW/ Base MCS
28,550/21,850 = $6,700
211hp/172hp = 39hp
The missing body kit is lame. I guess all you're really paying for is the engine/trans/software/exhaust/wheel upgrades. Is the $6,700 worth it (to me)? It's very hard to say. They really shouldn't be advertising the factory JCW with the body kit if it doesn't come with it. That's almost false advertising and a very bad trend. You never see a Porsche with a widebody kit in the glossies if it doesn't come with it from the factory. If fact I've never been aware of this before with a new car roll out. I understand engine, suspension and interior being optional. This is bait and switch. They should really put a disclaimer on all the photos.
Sorry if all this was already hashed out.

+1 . Spent 30 minutes driving a 135 last week and couldn't wait to get back into my R53. The 135 feels too much like a passenger car, and not enough like sport machine on rails. Despite the heckling I'll receive from one or two newbs, I pre-ordered (with deposit) a factory JCW this week for my wife. (The R53 will be rusting out before I give it up).

Porsche advertises Carreras and Boxters and Caymans and Cayennes all the time with optional equipment, most often wheels. All car companies do it and usually put a disclaimer at the bottom of their ads with an as shown MSRP. These are just press release photos. I can't blame them for wanting to show the car in its best light.
Yes, I can see optional wheels/tires, etc. but the body itself?
Then running with that logic, I can show/sell a picture of a super car yet, when someone comes to buy said car, show them a rolling chassis and tell them...oh by the way, the body, nuts/bolts/sealant/glue/glass/windows/etc.... is optional. I believe that's why they have laws against bait and swtich. If every picture I see of the NEW JCW has a body kit and MINI is advertising it as such, it had better have a body kit when you buy it. They might as well have ALL the body panels "optional". This is very deceptive and I feel as though i was tricked.

I don't think MINI has advertised the JCW yet. We're ahead of the game snooping around the internet for any piece of information or picture we can get. Anyone that takes a minute to read about the specs of the car will know that the Aerokit is not included and won't be fooled. Bait and switch would be to say, 29,200 as shown. MINI has not done this.
I think the MINIUSA website is guilty of worse by showing cars on the home page that have been photoshopped to look lower than they are.
I went to the LA autoshow. The stage 1 JCW was fitted with Aero, wheels and CF. I didn't feel duped.

I'm new to mini and was about to order a MCS with works stage 1 until I realized that the JCW car was to come out this summer. Then I read that for the convertible, you can order the stage 2 now with greater hp. This further confused me and now have learned from this thread that I'll still be able to order the stage 1 after the new JCW comes out. Now I am back to wondering if I should go back to stage 1 and not wait though I think that the seats and wheel options will be better and read that the nav screen on the new JCW car will be 5" or so vs current 4" or so. I am not tracking the car but just wanted a little extra pep. Any advice? Thanks!
This is the photo they should be using for the 2008 factory JCW.

What you see is what you get. No confusion, no mistakes.
Now you see why they went with the "optional equipment" marketing photos.
I still call lame tactics.

'SmokeM', that link shows why this JCW car is a failure. Utterly and truly.
And why 99% of the ads for this car show what you COULD get if you spent a lot more than you should.
That link presents an amateur's version of a self-pimped ride, ghetto-style. Exaggerated wheel gap, painted calipers, weak (pathetic) bumpers ... what a disgrace. I don't care if it has 400hp, brakes better than a cheetah in pursuit of a gazelle, or handles better than a slot car on a plastic track ... it looks HORRIBLE for a JCW car.

Damn Straight Mark, get 'em!
Just had a call from my MA and he's had his first production slots allocated for JCW cars. Going in to complete my order on Saturday, delivery the first two weeks of July. To say I'm excited is a bit of an understatement.

I am actually a MA in Oklahoma and I saw that we finally recieved the JCW allication. My problem is that I tried to go in to the system and it will not bring up any colors or options. That is kinda messed up that we cant motify them to what the customer wants. They are already specked out for a Red one and a Black one.
