internal harddrive music

does anyone know how to remove the music from the internal harddrive?

I put some on there just to experiment and see how it works...there was some stupid music I'll never listen to on the thumb drive, now I can't figure out how to get it off of there. There is no delete button that I can find.

ok, so I just figured it out but I have to leave the house....it's quite brutal! the instructions are in the owners manual in the car, under multimedia, media collection. the key note to understand is....

all of the instructions tell you to select a menu item, they are talking about what your reading on the screen....all but one. When it says to select "options"...there isn't an option menu item....it's talking about the "option" button down by the controller (by the e-brake) that button opens another page where you can now select to delete either a track or an entire album or an entire collection.

took me forever to realize it was talking about the physical option button.

anyway, so 2 weeks and almost 900 miles later, I'm still figuring things out on this thing.

another note here with radio...I did not get the HK system (due to the precieved wait and the lack of communication from my MA letting me know I could have gotten it simply by selecting a different package, but that's another rant)

anyway, the sound through my iphone (playing pandora) sucks, to say the least, the radio sounds so much better playing songs from my ipod.

gotta leave the house now, if anyone has any questions about this topic post up, I'll try to help with my limited knowledge later.

Mike

That info is good to know for later all around, and surely appreciated by everyone who already has their cars =)

I'm curious on this statement, have you tried playing direct mp3s from your iPhone rather than your iPod? I'm wondering if the decreased sound quality seems to be from the phone, or could it instead be from the poor quality of Pandora streaming at a super low bit rate to account for a possible weak cell signal as the phone travels down the road.

I know in my R56 with HK the iPod sound is SUPERIOR to the radio sound. It's not even close how much better it is.

It can be done. I did it. I think if you bring up that device as if you're going to play it then rotate down to the bottom I think for additional options or manage music.

The Germans seem to have non-intuitive controls mastered. Now it us time to give up and learn something about intuitive controls from the Japanese.

Has anyone tried this using the VIN number. my VIN returned the following:
"Your MINI was not bought in the country currently selected. Please change your entry in the country selection."

I suspect this is the UK site so our US VIN's will fail. Hopefully, the phone info. works better.

I play all of my music via BT directly from my iPhone and it sounds great. I don't use Pandora but it's safe to assume the poor quality is due to the Pandora stream.

Yeah, the Pandora bit rate isn't that good. Some of the web radio stations are pretty good in that regard but be sure you've got a generous data plan if you stream a lot.

MP3s over USB or BT are just fine.
