Dinan Elite Tune Installed...

So I decided to jump in quick and order a bunch of upgrades for my ‘15 F56 JCW. I installed the Dinan Carbon Fiber Air Box and Dinan Elite Tune from ECS Tuning which I absolutely love ordering from! Fast Ordering Process and Quick Shipments! So day one on this crazy hurricane filled day (NJ) and all I can say is that the car feels very smooth with a noticeable horsepower increase. The shifts are nice, the power is there with plenty of torque to pull away. I’m on the fence with an exhaust as I’m not looking to wake the neighborhood up. It seems that the stock exhaust may stay for awhile. I mainly bought the car to commute back and forth from NYC and I must say this thing is amazing!! Being a loyal 911 guy for years, this car truly is a joy to play with! As far as the Dinan Air Box? nothing to brag about, the carbon fiber is cool to look at, but clearly no additional hp or benefits to put on needs lists. If I had to do it again I would have ordered the unit that is designed to grab air from the hood scoop to the air box, that seems to be a better option. I’ll post again soon with an update. Now I’m waiting for my 18” OEM Matte Black 534 setup so I can get better traction and handling. I’ll take my 17” OEM setup and get winter tires installed for the winter.

I added the airbox and the elite tune to my BMW M240i (that little car is a beast). Dinan claims a 9 HP bump with the air box. That bump comes high in the RPM range so little will be noticed from a start. Get some light weight wheels for your car. Enkei PFO1's and a nice light set of tires to match (check Tire Rack tire weights compared to what you are running now to get the biggest weight savings). I bought the older Conti Extreme Contact sport DW, but see the replacememt for that tire has picked up an extra pound per tire). The Pirelli P Zero Nero GT is the same weight as the older Conti's (18lbs) as does the Eagle F1 Asymmentric (18lbs) .and the Conti ExtremeContact DWS (18lbs- and has the highest wear numbers) l I dropped 32lbs of unsprung weight on my Mini S and picked up 9 WHP and TQ. Noticeable handling gain also.

I see too many guys adding performance engine parts, perf exhaust and intakes only to buy boat anchor's for wheels because they look cool.

I have a Dinan airbox in my F54. I agree with the assessment. No tangible performance gain. It sounds nice (with the windows open) and arguably some improvement to the throttle response which I felt after it was first installed but now it’s just the norm. I installed the JCW tuning kit which too, became the norm. I think I need a sport module at least to find my new normal...my warranty is almost up so I don’t think it’s worth the expense of the elite.

Still have the Dinan Elite

I installed the Dinan Elite along with the JCW tuning kit about 3 years ago. I have never had a CEL or any other problems. The car ( 17 F57S) is incredibly quick and responsive. I recently installed an Arma CAI that looks great but I can't feel any real performance improvement. I really recommend the Elite to anyone who asks me. It is money well spent.

is your elite the JCW or standard S version? I also have a JCW tune and am curious to hear the benefit of the bolt on box

The Elite I have is for the S not JCW.. With the tuning kit and the elite the Dyno shows about 248 whp. I 'm not sure how accurate that is but I have been quicker than several "muscle" cars to their embarrassment.

i installed the dinan box, no noticeable change, not even a sound increase, i advise to check the filter after about 5 thousand mile mine was 50% black covered, the opening from the side in the engine compartment seems to draw in a lot of sooty oily road grim! would not buy this airbox again.
the filter seems to be to small, the factory air box filter which had 15000 miles on it had no black soot on it at all, because it draws the clean air from front of car.
if i had to do it over again would just use a drop in panel filter!

i agree dinan air box is not the way to go, i can recommend the Borla AXLE back muffler, not to loud, easy install, looks great!
sort of a deeper sounding but noticeable. i too would have rather gone with a front air grabber style air intake... i really like my NM power module but...i had a software related issue...causing it to lose power and some functions, start stop, voice command, speedo jumping...unstalled did not change, took it dealer they did a software update..all is back to normal...i do not know if i will install the power module...spoke with NM engineering they said the module could not do that? unrelated?
told me to send them codes...there was no cel or warning lights...did not ask for the codes..was just happy to get appointment the next day at 7am and a no charge loaner car, car back on rad same day with only a diagnostic charge and software update $180 and also a mini bubble bath!

interesting. I have a dinan intake. The sound is different than stock, I like it more but very subjective. The throttle is arguably more sensitive but not any really value add. You can hear more turbo flutters, which you may like or not. I don’t know if I’d do it again but it’s not my worst purchase. The Schnitzer rear bumper foil is a much bigger waste of money.

Is yours a manual? Maybe get more sound with a manual pushing in the higher revs...mine is a automatic

When I drive the automatic manually and the exhaust flaps open in sport mode, it sounds the best. I can imagine with a proper manual transmission it would be awesome
