Finally got my digital display! Will try to install and code today
Does your car have the nav? Does it have the HUD? If just the former, then you need to add a MOST (i.e., fiber optic) connection between the head unit and the instrument cluster. If you have the latter, then the MOST cable is already installed in the car. If you have neither, I believe it's also plug-and-play + coding.
Also, I'm curious which version of the digital instrument cluster your purchased? The GP3 ones seem to be popular, but I'm looking for just the normal Cooper/Cooper S one found on 2021 models with the navigation. Can't get a dealer to give me a part #, and I've tried several.
@NBCGLX The one I purchased is the one from the GP3, I have not seen the part # for the normal ones yet. I retrofitted evo into mine and just added the MOST so it worked fine after coding!
Does anyone have experience with these screens and polarized sunglasses? The HUD is almost totally unreadable with polarized lenses, to the point where I'll sometimes wear some free glasses I got from Geico, rather than my nicer but still cheap Shady Rays.

Which nav is the evo? Is that the latest touchscreen version found in the 2019-up LCI models? My car is an LCI so it has that from the factory. Do you have the part # for the MOST cable you used? Also, how was the coding experience? From what I’ve seen it can be quite the headache (though I suspect on newer models it may be as easy as just adding the 6WB option code to the VO).

The evo was the Nav system that came with the F60 and F54 from 17-18, before they went to the smallers units. For me it was a bit more of a headache only because my car originally came with the basic radio before they added the visual boost as the base. I do have a feeling that it should be easier for you, have you checked if your Speedo has a MOST going to it already? I purchased that MOST so long ago that I do not remember where I got it, but it looks just like that.

I’ve pulled the instrument cluster before to install a phone mount, and I don’t recall it having a MOST plug attached. I think only cars with the HUD have it.
How was routing the MOST cable? Easy I imagine? How about coding?

Maybe we are talking different things, but the Nav system in my 2016 F56, is EVO. I remember that distinction back when i was shopping for a map update.

By coding, is this something that can easily be done with Bimmercode? Or are we talking about adding/installing new code (not just changing a setting)?

You have nbt evo ID4. op has ID5. And cannot be coded with bimmercode.

Running MOST is indeed very easy, and the coding is not bad either

this is helpful to know - we currently don’t have nav or HUD in our car so this leads me to believe it may be a relative simple installation?
if I were to add the 8.8” screen in place of our current 6.5” non touch, would it still be plug and play (+coding)?
I am going to guess that is the case. I am a pilot and we all wear glasses with non-polarized lenses otherwise we would not be able to see our Electronic Flight Displays. You'll find some very high quality options out there. I, for example, wear glasses from Randolph USA. They also provide sunglasses to the USAF.
As you might expect, my HUD is crystal clear when I wear them.
