So the one thing that bugs me with my JCW is the drive mode selector. When I was test driving the JCW before I ordered it it was around the collar, when I ordered mine, I guess MINI changed them to the far right switch for the 19 model years.
Can the drive mode selector be changed from the far right toggle switch behind the shifter to the collar around the shifter? Has anyone done it yet?
Probably need to look on realoem.com for part numbers to see how things have changed and what might fit together. Don't recall reading anybody doing this mode.
One of the reasons I don't want to trade up to a newer model is exactly this. I love the collar switch, don't like leaning to reach the on dash switch like I had in the Countryman.
So if the collar switch won't easily mod, you can always just wire up a toggle switch and put it in the console and run the wire from original switch. I have two switches I added on my console for stereo sub woofer control, very handy location.
I don't mind mine. I just flip it to Sport mode when I start the car. I've tried Eco on long highway drives so I switched it while driving and while it's not the most convenient thing, it's not frequent enough that I mind it. And I guess if I know I'll be stuck in traffic, I'll switch it back to Normal (or don't switch it to Sport when I start). So for me, it's not a big deal. But I can see if it used to be more convenient that it's annoying now.
But do people normally change modes often when they drive?

Frequently !!!
With the Dinan Elite tuner, I find that Sport Mode can be extreme in certain circumstances. Also when hitting lots of speed bumps and rough road I go back to mid mode. Down hill runs I'll turn on Sport to modulate the speed, etc. Green mode has rarely been used, I'd only used it with long traffic jams and almost no movement.

Yup, every daily commute, 15 minute drive through a canyon (sport), 25 minute drive highway (mid), if there is traffic on the highway (eco), then I'm at work. Then I do it all over again come the evening, I love it!
Does newtis.info have wiring diagrams to look at for the rear of the START STOP CONSOLE SWITCH UNIT to see if I can tap or splice into the selector toggle?
Its coded to Sport on startup but since I put in the Forge IC it constantly feels like it pulling, which is perfect for the canyons but on the freeway I kind of just want it to coast along. Which is why I'm starting to use the drive selector much more now. I'm a little worried how much more the pull will be when I get it properly tuned with the Mario's DP.

I was casually thinking of doing the reverse. Moving my drive mode selector switch from the collar to the dash.
Thanks be the internet gods, I found my drive mode selector collar with a wiring harness attached cause I know I'm going to have to do some splicing. Now I just have to wait till it gets here.
Greetings! I too wanted to change from the collar to a switch. But someone told me that it’s also wired in to the cruise control, so I just left it alone. It’s just not that much of a big deal...just hate the look of the blank plate because there’s no switch.
This is something I want to do, move from the collar to a switch elsewhere so I can install the CS shiftwell cover. I would be content with moving/extending the cable, moving the control board in the collar elsewhere and securing/adapting a toggle switch to it. Just a matter of figuring out the best type of switch or toggle, and how to secure it.

i find with my JCW pro exhaust with the valve open it’s easier to just switch to mid mode then close the exhaust when driving through town or past cops to attract less attention. So yes I use it quite a bit for that purpose. But eco mode not so much.
On a side note my wife still hasn’t figured out that the exhaust opens and closes, I pray she never does or she will never let me open it!!
any developments on this? I'm going to be installing a coolerworx shifter and am looking for a way to relocate the sport mode switch from the collar to some kind of external toggle. In an ideal world, I'd also be able to tie the exhaust valve to the relocated sport mode switch - I saw a guy on IG that had somehow wired up his JCW PRO exhaust valve to the original shifter sport mode ring.
If you want your car to be in sport mode all the time you can use Bimmercode to make sport mode active on startup, no more moving the ring. If you want your JCW pro exhaust to be in sport all the time you can remove one of the cables from the bluetooth module while the car is running in sport. Somewhere on this forum it tells you which cable to remove. Again no more having to push the button on the controller to activate it.

I appreciate the advice, but I am already aware of both of those options and unfortunately that's not what I'm trying to achieve. I want to keep the flexibility of both of those systems. My main focus right now is trying to relocate the sport mode switch. There's a write-up in the How To forum for hard wiring the exhaust valve to a switch that looks promising... tying it to the sport mode selector is an interesting alternative that I'm also exploring.
I'm looking into buying another sport mode ring just to tear it apart and figure out a solution that works for my application. If I find anything interesting, I'll be sure to share with the forum.
Nothing new I'm afraid, I gave up on this venture. Has something to do with the coding, because my BCM does not have the hard wire to it that is used on the collar. I did try to add it but then it messed with the HUD. To bad newtis.info isn't free anymore.
