Looks like the set up for an interior proximity alarm which is built in? I see the box is made by valeo so it might just be a vent for the LKM, light control module or sunroof module?

Fair observation regarding the possibility of involvement with an alarm system -- my F56 doesn't have the factory alarm setup. So my car wouldn't be representative in that scenario.
From the realoem.com page for my 2017. Interestingly, looks like someone has given the site a refresh for the first time since 2019 -- the F66 and F65 are browsable models in there now!
Don't know if this helps, but it at least gives a visual of what's under the cover.
Yep those look like sensor horns to me built in on the top. Looks like all have it?
I totally thought realoem had gone full-archival. Good archival, but archival. Nice to see it is getting some live treatment again!
Yeah, that plastic housing looks common across all three implementations. Like everything else on the MINI, whether the sensors proper and/or the wiring to same are in there across the board is an open question. I never thought to crack open that whole assembly and examine it. I had enough off to replace the block of sunroof switches, but I never took that big roof-anchored piece apart.
The fact that it is referred to as the "roof function centre (FZD)" is telling -- I see that FZD referenced in informational codes in BimmerLink. That's a control module in addition to... whatever else it's doing. Check out the 2nd pic at this eBay auction.
