BimmerCoder in Los Angeles?

Looking for someone in Los Angeles area experienced with BimmerCode to code a few items for me:
1. Auto fold side mirrors (yes, I have folding side mirrors)
2. Shut off radio when door is opened
3. Fogs on with headlight/high beams

Thanks in advance, I’ll supply refreshments or whatever else is required.

Cheers!

I think does are simple codes you can do yourself with Bimmercode app and bluetooth adapter. I did those simple ones myself with bimmercode app (this was my first time and it was surprisingly easy for basic stuff)

I’m hoping that a local person, with the necessary software and equipment can offer their resources. I’d rather not invest in what seems to be a simple one time exercise. But maybe it won’t be possible, or maybe people are concerned about doing this work in someone else’s car.

Next will I’ll be BimmerTech to get my SiriusXM code installed.

Standing by for a bit with fingers crossed.

Cheers!

Wouldn't the Bimmertech Sirius installation erase the changes you make using Bimmercode? I think you need to do the Sirius install first if you plan on borrowing some else's Bimmercode.

Good Question

As someone new to MINI, with my new to me F56, I appreciate the question. My answer, I have no idea but I’m hoping others will chime in with their experience.

Im not clear why installing the SiriusXM code would delete other programming. Needing a SiriusXM code installed at additional cost on a car equipped with satellite hardware is really, really annoying. (Notice I had to write “really” twice to convey my level of frustration.)

Spending money to code fratures that should be simple simple user settings, or preinstalled as on every other car (except BMW I guess) is really, really absurd.

Thanks to all for your help with this.

Cheers!

No it wouldn't, before recoding a coder makes a copy of the parameters, thats the new template.
Then changes the parameters that need changing, then recodes.

Oh. I thought for Bimmertech coding though, they figure out what features your car already has based on your VIN (rather than make a copy from your existing physical car), then they add Sirius, and then they code your car remotely.

Your VIN, along with a BMW master key generates a Sirius code, through BMW corporate, that your car will accept.
Contrary to popular belief there is no hack code.
Most "coders" actually buy the Sirius code from Chinese BMW dealers, that charge a fraction of US dealers.
The dealer submits your VIN to BMW, BMW sells the code to the dealer.
Its totally legitimate.

At that point you call Sirius to activate. You'll need to be in your car calling, not on Bluetooth.

Wow! Now I’m wondering when my dealer service advisor told me they buy the code from SiriusXM, were they misinformed themselves as to where the code comes from, or were they misinforming me due to their shame over BMW’s greed?

Thanks for the insight into how this process really works. I’m still looking for a Coder...

Cheers!

Thanks so much to TVPostSound for the referral to Alex, a local coder who knows what he’s doing. In just a few minutes I had SiriusXM added to my HK satellite prepared radio, plus he did some other coding for me, and the cherry on top is the full year of free SiriusXM.

Thanks for helping me get this done, and for WAY less money and way less time than the local dealers wanted.

Cheers!

He was recommended to me by of all people, my Mini salesperson.
Was he riding his bicycle, with laptop in backpack, met you at a body shop?

Actually, he was standing outside of a funeral home, with laptop in backpack. My daughter was a bit schetched out by the scenario, turns out he’s a very nice guy. He gave me tips for getting my free year of SiriusXM service and even gave me some cash back because of how little work he had to do. Thanks again for the referral.

BMW is just greedy, no way the SiriusXM code should be an “option” you have to pay for, and I don’t understand why the feature capabilities of the key fob aren’t already coded, along with the other features I had coded. Pure greed, and I’m guessing if owners aren’t on this forum, they have no idea of the hidden features buried in the ECU of their cars.

Cheers!
