HELP! F56 Airbag Light

So I have had aftermarket seats in my F56 for a really long time now but at this point the airbag light is kinda just getting annoying and there is literally no information on how to bypass it, I have used resistors 2.2ohm to 3.6ohm (works on R53 and R56) to see if it would turn it off and it won't. I have found one post on here about someone having the same issue but they never got to the resolution. SO if ANYONE knows how to bypass the airbag sensor on the F56 please let me know! I've also spoken to people in Korea and Japan about it but they just don't know how to describe what I need to do in English, plus from what I have seen USA models have different airbag systems due to higher standards of safety.

This is the unit where resistors have to go (located under the seat)

If the airbag light is already on, solely using the resistor won't work. You also need to clear the code.

F56 isn’t like other Mini Models, it reruns a check over the entire car every time you start it up. So if i unplugged something and plugged it back in, it should automatically fix itself and delete the code.

Regardless, you'll still need to clear the fault code. Seat Restraint Systems require code readers to clear error codes.

I just tried explaining that I don’t, when I start the car it doesn’t have the light on, it’s not like a r53 where it stays on when you put the key in. All lights are cleared when I start up and then once started up it does a full check of car then it pops up...

If I remember correctly vetsvette replaced the seats in his F56 and I believe he was able to get the airbag light defeated.

Nope. I’m still canceling the warnings every time I start the car. I’ve never been able to find a wiring diagram for the seat harness. That damned yellow plug doesn’t help either. If I can find the color coded harness schematic I plan to have my guy cut into the harness and solder the resistor in. Then clear the fault. Also need to bypass the seat occupancy sensor.

You needed to unplug the battery first, then unplug the seat system

Hey,

Today I got the driver restraint system malfunction. All I did was move the seat back to check and clean stuff. Possibly I somehow touched the yellow connector and heard the beep. It was the warning light. I saw the black latch (that is on the yellow connector), was moved a bit, so that what has caused the issue. I removed it, looked at it to make sure all is good and put it back. The light doesn't go away. What is the procedure to make the light go away?

The guy that did my Sirius XM coding uses E-sys.
He has a sweet gig going around to body shops and resetting airbag and seat belt codes after accident repairs.

Still no joy here. Haven’t been able to get my hands on a wiring diagram yet. If I had that I could cut into the harness before that damned yellow plug and install the proper load/resistance. Need to simulate the occupant sensor so the dashboard airbags will work in addition to simulating the load of the seat airbags to turn the lights off.

I have coded out seat airbag coding, active headrests, etc for M2 ... should be the same for the MINI. All you need is an ENET Cable, ESYS (for the coding) & ISTA (to clear the SRS codees)

I went to the dealer for recall for seat belt retractor, mirror replacement + rain sensor gel and asked them to check wiring on SRS and they reset the code

I have the Schwaben and the Foxwell scanner and they cant clear an airbag code. All I did was unplug the seat connector without disconnecting the battery and then got four airbag codes.

I think I need a stronger code reader.
