Run fog light wire to OEM switch?

I have the base mini cooper with halogens and no fog lights.
I recently bought the fog light housing and going to replace the standard one that came without fogs since parking lights dont turn on at night, and I primarily drive at night (Work) i need light.

would this wiring be difficult? (I came up on a OEM switch that includes the fog light button) Im pretty sure the car isnt prewired from the last time i checked inside through the little hole at the wheel well, unless im mistaken?

How would you wire it? Thanks

First I would take a look and see if the connectors are there for them. They may be taped to the harness instead of dangling in air.

Fog light harness should be wired already.

The switch really isn't a conventional switch, its only a trigger for the cars DME.

Once you replace the switch, you;; need to code the cars DME to activate the fogs.

See the Bimmercode FAQ

The button doesn't directly control the fog lights. The button only sends signals to the footwell module, which controls lighting. If you manage to get everything wired up, you'll also need to have the car programmed to activate the button and fog lights. Alternatively, install your own wiring and switch instead of trying to make the OEM setup work.

If your night driving is on lightly traveled roads, consider installing auxiliary driving lights, which are essentially an extra set of high beams.

Wiring diagram:
That wiring diagram is for 2nd gen MINI. The OP has a 2015 F56.

Aux lights are very nice, I use them frequently on dark back roads. Only wish I had the LED version instead of regular as linked by rkw. Worth the extra cash.

You could also look into upgrading headlights to LED.

This page lists the different versions: https://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2015-.../Rally_Lights/, along with the required mounting brackets and switch that must be purchased separately.

Not arguing about the diagram but that is what pulled up for a 2015 on Shop Key. What indicates it is for an earlier model?

Some of the labels are marked Coupe and Roadster, which are 2nd gen models (R58/R59). Here is the diagram for F56: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...hts/1VnXazmgkj

If you have the fog lights and get the auxiliary lights, does the coding eliminate the fogs? Is there a switch that activates the auxiliary lights separately or does adding the auxiliary light setup use the existing fog light button?

OEM auxiliary lights have their own switch and operate independently of the fog lights. Full information in the installation instructions: https://new.minimania.com/pdfile/OE_Driving_Lights.pdf
