Light switch wire

I havent been able to find a wiring diagram for the r56.

That being said....

I have my gauges installed but at night i like to run my gauges dim, the problem with that is that the actual tap im using for the prosport needs a full 12v to switch to red. when dim the cars lighting receives 6v. any one have any idea where i can find a full 12v light switch wire that does not decrease with the dimmer?

According to Alta's instructions for wiring up their gauges, they use a wire going to the DSC module.

I haven't confirmed though and don't know if the 2010 might be different. Check that out with a tester and let us know.

thats what i have it hooked to right now, but if you dim your lights the voltage goes from 12 to 6v, i need a light switched wire that stays at 12v regardless of dimming

If it's acceptable to you, there are fuses that are switched on with the ignition: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...not-fuses.html

For a wire switched on with the lights, look through the wiring diagrams: http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/release/en/index.htm
You can connect to the tail light, but there might be a more convenient connector further up front where its signal comes from.

Here is the wiring diagram for the '07. Should be very similar to your car.

http://www.mcaw.info/wds/mini/us/r56/index.htm

That being said, anything in the interior of the car will have the voltage you found, the easiest thing I can think of for your 12V source for dimming would be to tap off the front parking/city light power wire.

I can't take a screen shot as the diagram is too wide for one window.

http://www.mcaw.info/wds/mini/us/index.htm

then click Tech Requirements at the bottom right, then click Start System Test.

Make sure you have the following:

You need to use Internet Explorer (32-bit), Java version 1.4.1 or higher, scripting of Java Applets enabled

And the big thing you are probably missing:

Adobe® SVG Plugin 3.0 or higher installed
