How much do you pay for installing cat-back exhaust

I wanna install the Millteck cat-back and their dealer quoted me $630 labor. I thought it’s just one hour work. BTW, is cutting needed for the Millteck? How much do you pay for installing cat-back? Any recommended shop in great Seattle area?

I put one in my R55. Direct bolt on. Easy enough to do on jack stands...literally one clamp at the downpipe and four rubber hangers to get the old one off. The Milltek has to be assembled and adjusted to get it in the right position, but still easily doable. IMHO $650 is way too much to charge. Good luck.

Check with Midas. 4 years ago they installed (welded) a Remus on my wife's R58 for under $100.

Thats a ripoff, big time. They just dont want to do it when you get quotes that high. I got my DP installed for $400 with an oil change and it was only 3 hours of labor.

Go to any exhaust shop and I wouldnt pay more than $100, heck, more than $60 for that matter.

Honestly though, cat backs are easy. You could very easily do it yourself. Its a direct bolt on

I've had a number of catback's installed on numerous cars, and never paid more than $100. And that's even having them weld up all the seams instead of using clamps.

Yes, big ripoff for me. They’re actually a authorized Millteck dealer in Washington. Don’t know why they charge so much.

Do you guys know if Remues or Borla or Scorpion is bolt-on and don’t need any adjustment? When you guys say bolt-on, do I need to cut anything? Sorry never done a exhaust before though a lot of other DIY things on my car.

Wow, thats a shame. Id google exhaust shops in your area and hit them up.

Most exhausts are all bolt on meaning you are just replacing the stock one with the aftermarket one. Most vehicle-specific aftermarket exhausts will utilize the same exhaust hangers, so you wont need to get anything welded on or cut to make it work.

The new kits will come with the replacement bolts and clamps so you shouldn't have to re-use any stock parts other than the rubber hangers.

I had my downpipe inclusive of heat wrapped and catback exhaust installed for SGD330. I know it isn’t a fair comparison as labour cost differs between different country. But the quote you received is way too much

I had my catback exhaust installed at Midas in 40 minutes for $60. That is way over-board even if you had to weld and cut.
