Squeaky Clutch Pedal

Has anybody had intermittent squeaking occur when depressing the clutch pedal. At first i thought it was something on the sole of my shoe, but a closer look revealed that the pedal was rubbing against something in the foot-well. I stuck my hand around the pedal attachment, and there seems to be a rubber wire close by - but nothing really noticeable/obvious that would cause the squeaking. Was wondering if anybody has a similar issue - before I take it in.

Car is a 2014 F56 Justa

Yeah, but it it's super-intermittent. It has to be the right mix of temperature and humidity.

Sound anything like this? https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ky-clutch.html

I still get that every now and then, thought it seems less and less frequent as time passes. It seems to surface mostly when the car is cold, particularly after using reverse. It seems to consistently be gone within 2 miles of driving these days, though, whereas it persisted before the new clutch fork and TOB.

nope definitely not a mechanical sound. I think it's more like Nuke-em's - where it's tied to humidity and temperature. It sounds like squeaky shoes over a freshly waxed floor - for the longest time i thought it was the sole of my shoes. It's been gone for the past week or so - will keep an ear out for it, and get a recording next time.

here's a video of the squeaky clutch - as Nuke-em mentioned, it seems to only kick-in on humid, high temp. days

Yep. That's the noise. When you combine that with my perpetually squeaking wiper arm swivel, it sounds like I'm driving something from ***** Wonka's chocolate factory.

i had this issue with my Maxima and my CRV. both were resolved with white lithium grease. i'm getting that noise as well. seems to be all too common. i'll try some of that next time i can.

I've had this happen on other cars too. On my 06 GTI grease kept it at bay for a while, but I eventually needed a new clutch master.

Update after bringing it into the shop: the tech wasn't able to re-produce the sound on an initial drive, but after he "moved some things around" the squeaking started again. He tried lubricating the joints, but squeaking still persisted, with the description: "both clutch buffer and pedal bushings squeaking"

So they've got the following parts on back-order to be replaced under warranty:
  • Clutch Pedal Pin
  • Pin. Master Cylinder
  • Bushing
  • Clutch Pedal Buffer

Update - Roger (my F56) is at the shop to replace the clutch pedal, etc... He had stay overnight, and I had a brief look at it when it was on the lift, it looks like a fairly complex job.

Nothing yet and it does not follow the design of the older MINIs that have the same problem.

Oiling the clutch bushing (the top most pivot) seems to have kept ours quiet for a few weeks now, fingers crossed.

Not a Mini - it's an M3 - but skip to the 4:19 mark regarding the same exact sound...
