Squeaky Clutch Pedal
Squeaky Clutch Pedal
My clutch pedal has developed a squeak at the first few inches of travel. Sounds like wet shoes on a tile floor, hence I thought it was my shoes at first, but the it makes the sound when pressing the pedal by hand as well...
Anyone else have this? I found a few r56 threads on this, but most of the threads seemed to be related to the throwout bearing going, not sure if the 2011s use the same clutch parts as previous years, but I don't think this is the problem. The sound really seems to be coming from inside the cabin. It seems past BMWs have had issues with squeaky clutch pedals that are related to the bushings on the clutch fork drying out, this seems to be more likely, I hope...
Might take it in if it doesn't go away in the next few days...

hm. mine is right at the engagement point, so it throws me off a little. You can feel the vibration from whatever is causing it in the pedal, if you are braking at the same time you can feel it in the brake pedal as well.
yep mine squeaks all the time - i figured I will hit it with some WD40 -
I have sort of got used to it but it bugs my wife (ps who says the CM makes her sick but that might be something to do with me trying to get the car onto its door handles :p)
...Well I assume it is some sort of cable noise but re-reading the post gives me more cause for concern

Yeah you may want to take it in. Greasing mine improved things for maybe a day, but it went right back to squeaking. Dealer had to order some parts, I'll let you know what they end up replacing once they come in.
So after greasing, replacement of the compression spring, and the even the pedal, it is still squeaking. It seems to just be a fitment issue... not sure if I want the dealer messing with it anymore
Mine squeaks too, and has since day one. I've chosen to ignore it for now and see if it turns into something...
If it develops some resistance or something along those lines I'll take it in.

Its funny because I never really realized how sticky/stiff mine was until they put in the new pedal and greased it all up. It was great for a few days... well for the drive home from the dealership anyway. It is better than where it started. Tolerable now I suppose
Has anyone found a permanent fix for this? I've taken it to the dealer and they "fixed" it, but it only lasted a few days. I've tried lubricating myself to no avail. It's definitely just a minor cosmetic annoyance and isn't affecting anything performance/drivability-wise.
My clutch pedal was squeaking too and started feeling stiffer, especially when the inside of the car was hot. It got so bad it sounded like an old door and starting out in first and reverse became difficult.
In June they replaced a pin and lubricated the pedal, but that lasted only a few days before it started squeaking again. It didn't get stiff like the frist time so I tolerated it until most of my backordered trim came in.
This week they kept the car overnight for a second opinion and MINI told them to modify a push rod and it is quiet and the pedal operates much more smoothly.
I have only driven home from the dealer, but hopefully this takes care of it.

I had this fixed last winter. They replaced my master cylinder and all is well now. I was waiting to update on this until after summer to ensure it was really fixed. So far so good.
Mine was not a countryman and I already sold mine a while ago, mine was 2008 R56 S. My clutch pedal was squeaking and developed loud noise when shift 2 -3 gear after 6 months since day one.
2008 - they replaced clutch pedal assembly after 6 months since day one
2009 - they replaced entire clutch assembly
2010 - they replaced clutch pedal assembly again
..... so totally they replaced clutch parts 3 times and sold it 2010.
I still love MINI, wife has 2010 R56 S auto and I am thinking to getting the MINI Countryman once my lease ends up this year November.

Thought I'd throw in a post here. I just bought a 2008 Clubman S and shortly after noticed the squeaking. I brought into the service at the dealer to have something else checked and I mentioned the squeaking. I thought something just needed to be lubed. Turns out they needed to replace the master cylinder. Going to pick it up shortly, hopefully it is resolved.

I took my car in for a clutch pedal noise. The squeak seemed to come from inside the cabin. The dealer replaced the throw out bearing and clutch assembly. However, when I picked up the car, I noticed a vibration as the clutch is being lifted in first and reverse. The car has been at the dealership since Tuesday (4 days) and still waiting...
