To mod or not to mod that’s the question?

Finally buying a 2013 GP2!!

If anyone has personal knowledge, please share with me.

Questions:

If I were to leave it stock vs. doing a Stage 2.
  1. If I were to swap the stock JCW exhaust with a non-resonated Akropovic, does anyone know which sounds better as in more aggressive? If I were to leave the JCW exhaust, would doing a resonator delete produce more sound in a good way or would there be too much drone on highway?
  2. If I do a Stage 2 tune, go catted dp or catless? What would be the sound difference? The county I live in does not have emissions testing.
I like a lot of burble and some pop in the exhaust- I do not like it to sound like gunshots or firecrackers. I also like to get up and go when I need to, but I never redline or intend on tracking the car. Suggestions of the highest quality upgraded parts i.e. intercooler, DP, airbox?

Any suggestions on what you have done to your GP that I may like? Or, should I just leave it the heck alone? 🤔

If I had the money to buy a GP, I wouldnt do anything I couldnt easily reverse to keep up the value. Tune, Intake, Intercooler, Exhaust and other bolt ons shouldn't be an issue and can be easily reverse if you sell it in the future, or at least provide the original parts for the next owner.
If you plan on keeping it and dont care about potiential resale later, the ***** in your court - RPMPower R300, RMW Head, Water-Meth, and more!

Congrats on scoring a GP2! It's your car so no one else should tell you what to do with it, so yeah decide if originality/resale value is important or not. If it is then save any original parts.

My philosophy on my GP2 is any mods should be reversible to bring the car back to stock at 0 or minimal cost (except labor), or be fundamental improvements to the stock item - things like cruise control retrofit, brake lines, coilovers, suspension bushings, intercooler, a set of gauges, etc. Usually that just means taking some care with part selection and installation, sometimes it takes some creativity and careful fabrication like when I had to extend the wiring to install the oil pressure sensor and build a wiring harness for the gauges. If I ever do sell it, prospective buyers will see that the car was well cared for and substantially improved from stock. No rolled fenders or cutting holes in the hood, some people are into that but I'm not. Also no hacked up wiring for me.

Enjoy your new GP2, the car is a blast as is.

Thank you so much for your input and yeah, that makes total sense about being able to return to stock if i were to sell it. I have been literally looking at getting another GP back in like 2015. I bought one brand new off the showroom floor when they came out, sold it and regretted it like no other. I have had multiple R56 JCWs over the years, now a coupe JCW (which i will be posting to sell- i did for a short period of time, but i did not actually have another car) and I even had a manual 453 Smart Fortwo that I dumped a butt-load of money into it modifying this and that.

The time has now come…the reckoning.
